milwaukee or St Clair???

Whos is going where?? Milwaukee was a good site.
but, being from Michigan, I think St Clair will be fun as well.

Peconic 07-11-2004 04:34 PM

Re: milwaukee or St Clair???

Because GLSCS & OSS join forces & boats at St. Clair, some observers expect around 70 boats. Which should be quite a show for that picturesque town with a population of 62thousand.

The word is out in Milwaukee about the race and people are already
calling and asking for more info. It would be nice if we had a boat count
just to see how many are going to show up. Some places downtown are
getting ready to rock!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :)

Mark: I think the boatcount for St. Clair will be over your prior estimation. We all will have to wait for Roll Call to know for sure.

The Konrad/Fountain of Youth team will be running APBA in Milwaukee, playing host to a crew of a dozen or so from Konrad Marine. As a "local" race to Konrad's home in the Hudson, WI area, we'll be pulling out the stops to put on a good show for them.

Keith & Mike, u guys ready? All of our broke TRS stuff is gone, so we'll be after ya!

See everyone there,
Brian

This was a really tough decision for us. The St. Clair Classic is a beautiful venue and is a hard race to pass up, however Milwaukee is equally as nice a venue and is in our back yard. The PX-77 Pair-a-Dice Team will be in Milwaukee.

Free Admission to Milwaukee Offshore Gran Prix as Powerboat Action Hits the Lakefront

Round 4 of APBA Offshore GMC Pro Grade National Powerboat Series Racing Action

Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) July 16, 2004 -- When the fourth Stop on the APBA Offshore GMC Pro Grade Series National Tour arrives in Milwaukee at the end of the month, fans will be treated to an extra perk, free admission to the Race Village Pit Area on Friday of the event weekend.

Professional race teams from across the country will head to the Milwaukee area for the weekend Festival of Speed, slated for July 29th through August 1, 2004.

Promoters expect to attract thousands to the Milwaukee Lakefront at Veterans Park to see the millions of dollars worth of high tech equipment both on land and showcased on the water.

On Thursday, July 29th, a bevy of 24' – 46' v-hull and catamaran boats, trucks, trailers and exotic toys will begin to arrive to Race Village. By Friday, these awesome beasts, boasting speeds in excess of 180+ miles per hour will hit the water for testing.

"We wanted to give the public a chance to come down to meet the teams, get autographs and take pictures when the boats arrive, so we decided to offer Free Admission on Friday. We’re hoping they will have such a great time they won’t want to miss the racing action over the weekend," said Chuck Collins, Race Promoter for the Milwaukee Offshore Gran Prix.

Fans who head to the actual racing competition, which will showcase 15 classes of boats over two days, will have a front row seat with spectacular views of the competition just off Veterans Park.

For those seeking a level above general viewing, special V.I.P. Mobile Skybox Suites are also available for Corporate or Group hospitality. The Suites feature a full hospitality dining area, air conditioned lounge, rest room facilities and a two story viewing area with a premier views of the racing action.

"Without a doubt, the APBA Offshore's newer style of closed course, 'circle track' competition is a perfect fit for Milwaukee. The fans will be able to see the boats racing around the entire course all just a few hundred feet from shore. The action alone will surely keep everyone on the edge of their seat," added Collins.

APBA Offshore Racing Action will be held on Saturday, July 31st at 3:00pm followed by Happy Hour Testing for Sunday competitors. On Sunday, August 1st races will be held at both Noon and 2:00pm.

Competitors will be vying for points toward the prestigious 2004 GMC Pro Grade Series National Championship title in their respective classes, and in Milwaukee, that means that they will also share a piece of the $25,000 prize purse.

Many teams will also be competing for an additional $30,000 prize purse under the association's Central Division point's competition as part of the Reindl Powerboats sponsored Tri-State Cup Championship. The mini-series included stops in Port Huron, Michigan and Cincinnati, Ohio in June, the Milwaukee event in July, and the New Richmond, Ohio race slated for August 6th – 8th, 2004.

Veterans Park Race Village will be open to the public with Free Admission on Friday from Noon until 6:00pm. Admission for Saturday and Sunday will be $7.00 per adult or $12.00 for the two-day Pass. Kids 12 and under are free every day, and tickets may be purchased at one of two gated entrances at Veterans Park off Lincoln Memorial Drive.

Veterans Park Race Village will house the Racer Dry Pits, raceboats and equipment on display, the Wet Pits, raceboats in the water and at the docking area, and Hot Pit Areas, with viewing of the boats being craned in and out of the water.

Additional featured attractions will include an In-Water Boat Parade, Kids Play Area and Boat Show. There will also be a number of vendor booths, and food and beverage concessions available and race teams will showcase their fan apparel and souvenir items. Free parking is limited, so fans should plan to get to the event early, and note that there will be no coolers allowed in the park area.

"We are extremely excited to bring our GMC Pro Grade National Tour back to Milwaukee this year," said Jim Poplin, President of the APBA Offshore Racing Association.

"We will be returning for the 2005 and 2006 seasons as well, so fans can plan on returning to support our teams and enjoy the hospitality of the Milwaukee area for years to come."

All information on the APBA Offshore GMC Pro Grade Milwaukee Offshore Gran Prix, including the Schedule, Veterans Park Race Village Map and Course Map or News Updates are available on the APBA Offshore Racing Association website.

The 2004 GMC Milwaukee Offshore Gran Prix is presented by GMC and is hosted by the Milwaukee County Parks and Downtown Howard Johnson Inn & Suites, which has a special $69.00 per night + tax room rate for teams and fans.

Seeing Statements are being made this from Mercury Racing:

It only makes sense to support OSS race events since they are made up of a core group of customers running key Mercury Racing products, including the 525 EFI and Super Cat race engine packages,” said Mercury Racing’s Senior Marketing Manager Rick Mackie. “It’s all about keeping Mercury-powered boats on the water and capturing checkered flags.

Im as guilty as the rest Mark and Shane, I cant help myself from posting pro OSS info. You post pro APBA and Im just firing back. I wish it was the worlds already so we could settle this on the water already. So what is the big prize money in APBA you are refering to? Or are you asking about the the OSS $80,000 prize money that has been paid on the spot to 5 classes in 2 races!!! And Mark why are you hideing in P class when you should have a SVL boat. Are you afraid of equal compatition. And talk of hidden balast tanks and hot ICM's are you for real? These teams are the best of the best they dont need to cheat.

Re: milwaukee or St Clair???

Didn't we all celebrate the breakout of peace?

As far as the big prize money being gone, you can book that under the same sarcasm as the hot ECMs and hidden ballast tanks. Far from having blown their wad, OSS continues with the richest purses in the business. It's all part of being an Organization of Owners.

PS: It was more than $80.000 in two races. And when that season is over, OSS probably has paid out more than a quarter million in prize money - on the spot. All the more reason for the photos to continue.

70 boats?!? OSS has had 30 boats the first two races, is GLSCS going to add another 40 boats?

There were some very unconfirmed rumors here in Dania this weekend that Milwaukee wasn't going to happen ...

Mark,
Just so you know, they have helped me out, with technical and parts that crossover, in the past. They are courteous, and professional.
I certainly dont take offense to your take on humor, although i am offended that you have a race boat that could compete in SVL yet you choose to pick on P-Class. :)
Good luck in Milwaukee, be safe.

Re: milwaukee or St Clair???

I think we will have a few OSS boats at our race.It will be tough for many as we have races on Aug. 1 and Aug 15 in Michigan but I know some are going to try. We expect a major turnout. We have our poker run the weekend before and already have over a hundred boats entered, parties all week and the Fla. Powerboat club is coming race weekend. We are expecting over two hundred thousand spectators so don't wait to long to book your rooms.
