Congrats to Bob and Mitch!!!
Unbelievable Kilo record of 126mph in the CMS cat!!
Washington, NC 8/5//04 - - Bob Bull of Merritt Island, Florida and Mitch Miller of Cornelius, North Carolina made history today in their #3 CMS Mechanical – Castaway raceboat. The team, running a Marine Technology, Inc. hull powered by Mercury 525 EFI engines, IMCO drives and Hering 5 Blade props has now been officially logged in the record books for breaking the American Power Boat Association (A.P.B.A.) – Union Internationale Motornautique (U.I.M.) World Kilo Speed Record set by Slug Hefner in the Super Cat Light ™ Class. The former record was set in Cleveland, Ohio back in 2002, with Hefner clocking at a speed of 115.367 miles per hour. Bull and Miller set the new record with a blazing speed of 126.03 miles per hour on the Pamlico River under calm waters and a cool morning breeze. “We’re ecstatic,” said Bull. Miller, who had previously set two A.P.B.A, - U.I.M. World Kilo Records just grinned. “MTI builds a great boat and the updates to the hull for this years model by Randy Scism, Gary Stray and the team at Marine Technology gave us the speed we needed,” said Bull. As for beating fellow MTI fleet mate Hefner’s record, all Bull could say was that it “was pretty cool.” |
