Cambridge Race? OPA Boats & Insurance?

Just a thought after reviewing the website for the Cambridge Race.

It appears all boats that run in the http://www.cbpba.com/ Cambridge Poker Run event will need to have insurance on their boats.

Most probably do already have it, but just to give you a heads up, they will need a copy of the declaration page of your policy.

From the website:

Please note the following critical & important item regarding insurance!!!

To attend ANY CBPBA sponsored event, all member participants will be required to show proof of insurance. Don't take any chances, fax your declaration of coverage immediately to 301.513.9454 or have one on your boat to provide the day of registration.

Who insurures these boats?

Maybe the OPA racers have a blanket coverage because they are registered to race in an OPA sanctioned event?

I would assume if you plan on doing the Poker Run though, you would need your own insurance...

The insurance requirement is for the poker run, not for the race. I suppose that if a racer is going to run his race boat and it is not insured, then he/she will need to insure it. The race is a totally different animal since of course, no race boat is actually insured during the race.

Ted,
Have you received any inquiries for the SOB class for this race?

I am hoping this will be the place that they turn out....

Sorry, I have not. Kurt and I discussed it recently and he didn't have much response either. Too bad, I figured the SOB's would rock and roll in my little bathtub :D
