Chris, I have allways been intreeged by your boats and racing concept-one design. I can't wait for your web site to be up again. What are some of the requirements of your boats? min weight? drive? Bravo XR? Other bravo drives-imco,teaque,etc. X dim or propshaft below bottom of boat? engine?- now that the 377 is done, Extension boxes? k-planes?
How about the 496HO as the std engine and have a claiming rule where anyone can 'claim' /buy the engine out of the 1,2, or 3rd place boat for say $8500. That way if someone thinks someone is cheating with the engine then they might loose the engine but they would be able to buy a new one for about $2000 more.

The 496ho would not fit and it would screw up the balance.
The only engine for the boat is a small block.
