Key West Schedule ?
 

Does anyone know the schedule for Key West, The SBI site says 1st race on Wednesday the 17th, 2nd race on Saturday the 20th, and the 3rd race on Sunday the 21st. Are all classes racing every day? What time are the races starting?

Wed , Sat and Sun -All class BUT no P boats , They will race into the harbor

Tues and Fri - P boats only , They will race on the south side by the airport.

So the P class course is the regular rectangular course and the other classes is the funny looking triangular course.Do I have the correct mental picture?

Mike, Can you explain that a little clearer? Is it P boat Tues and Friday only and all others Wed, Sat, Sun? Different courses?

John told us in Daina , That p-class is running on tues and fri ,On the south side and The rest will run on wed ,sat and sun into the Harbor.

I don't believe that's correct. If you look at the SBI web site, it's pretty clear. All boats race on Wed, Sat and Sun. This is a three race format like the old days. SBI went back to the three race format last year in Deerfield. APBA used to run on the same days but it was only a two race format. The Sat race was half the boats and the Sun race was half the boats.

Also, it looks like the course goes all the way into the harbor. See this site, no ships at dock any of the three race days.

Maybe thats why the other two days the course does not go into the harbor because the ships might be there.I hope that the P classes do not run the same day as the other classes because we will not be able to run Bad Boy Turtle in P3 against Augie.I also think it would be pretty crazy at the cranes to get maybe 100 plus boats in and out in one day.Hope somebody that knows for sure lets us know.

It was done in '94, 146 boats, I was there, it was a beautiful thing!

When I want the facts, I go to www.superboat.com. Look at the schedule, I gave the link. Its pretty clear when you read it.

I only saw one course listed and the schedule only shows races on Wed, Sat and Sun. Show me different.

Ah YES!!!! So it was!!!...... :drink:

That was the peak of offshore racing as we knew it...

Let's hope the sport can get out of the lull and make a huge comeback!!! :drink:

Not all boats used the cranes, some launched at Garrison Bight Marina (Truman and Palm), others from the city marina at Stock Island.

Here's the deal, From JC's mouth to my ear. All boats will race Wed, Sat, and Sunday. Races start 10:00 12:00 and 2:00 Yes P boats will run 3 races. Wed and Saturday, boats will run Half the normal laps and score half the normal points. Sunday will be full laps and full points. Race paks will be on the SBI site within two weeks. Please download and send in your entrance forms as soon as you can. There will be a lot of boats there so it is nessessary to register early, so the pits can be arranged by classes. Willie, we'll find a way to race! Ya never know, I may run againt you and Larry in that other class also!!!!!!!Stranger things have happened. For my money Smitty got the right info and if ya need more than that call Bubba at Superboat.

Augie,That would be awesome if we can race together in two different classes.You and Kevin would love to be under a lid.Its going to be tough racing both boats in the same day but we will see what happens.

Wil, I've run my 24' in Key West and then got out and raced a 32' Triple OB Skater in the next race.

All your info is 100% correct ( as usual ) . Boat parade is Sunday 11/14 down through the middle of town; Duval Street. You have not been to a party until you experience this one. And yes, back in 1994 we did have 140 boats race in the harbor--us old guys remember. What a great time. See all the OPA guys in Cambridge this weekend.

i just reserved a room at the wyndam casa marina for 11/17-11/21...looking forwards to meetin everyone. anybody familiar with the wyndam good, bad or indifferent location etc...i've never been to the Keys...lmao
