I wasn’t there so it’s hard to pass judgment, but in all fairness “WE” have all done stupid things at least once in our lives.

When all is said and done the ones that are the most upset are the ones that didn’t think of it first or weren’t in a position do it at all.

Well in all fairness to Wooley and Walt I think they looked great coming by and we didn't feel any danger at all but then I'm not all there. They weren't going that fast when they passed the dock and I think the Extreme Cat and Showtime made more noise than Lightning Jacks but I didn't have young children on the dock that got scared, well I did have Kevin...does that count! Let me explain, Saturday The CBPBA raffled off a ride in our boat and the WAZZUP boat for Charity. The guy we had in the boat with us had his entire family on the dock and we asked to do a fly by a couple of times so they could get photos of him and it was granted, we even let him drive (40mph) with me running the throttles behind him, EVERYONE loved it except one women, oh well can't excite everyone. After thinking about it, it wasn't the smartest thing for us to do but I just wanted to give this guy a thrill. So if anybody is pi$$ed about Saturday, SORRY! That we will NEVER do again at any time! Augie and Kevin

John & Walt,

I like you guys, but the bottom line, I think it was at best "Poor Judgment" and quite frankly one little thing gone wrong and a disaster of unimaginable results could have occurred!! That close was not cool!!

In all fairness to Wooley and Walt, at the meeting the pace boat DID in fact say we had from the center of the course to the docks as the start of the race, now for that to be smart, safe, ect., I'm not to judge but I do know what I did on Saturday wasn't too smart.

There needs to be a bouyed area off that pier that needs to be desiganated off plane speed only. As the former race director for CBPBA I'm going to strongly suggest that be enacted next year. It wasn't just the boats named here there were several more. Augie, I didn't know about the raffle as I was pretty annoyed by what was going on Saturday.

Hi John, sorry about Saturday. The Charity was for a little girls future education expenses. Her Dad passed away(If I'm not off base here) testing a boat and he belongs to The CBPBA? Still no reason for doing a Fly By that close because I now can see the danger in it. Sorry if we offended or scared anyone. Augie

Re: D Q Lightning Jacks /Stupid Fn Move

I was not on the dock for the Lightning Jacks deal, but I was there when Augie was running and was well aware of why he was doing it, Smitty did a very similar thing for his rider. Most of the people on the dock at that time were enthusiasts and racers and had no problem with it. One person was not and made us aware of it (but she also stayed the whole time it was going on of her own free will). I will take full responsibility for not providing a safer margin on the dock area. Last year some people got wet, but it was mostly from wakes, not spray. The larger field of big boats and the somewhat hastily called parade lap may have created a situation that was somewhat unsafe. Next year an exclusion zone will be laid out and signs will be posted for anyone entering the dock area regarding the possibility of getting wet. Just like everything else that happened during the race we try to do our best and cannot always foresee every problem that may arise. This is an edgy sport and the people who do it and follow it are a dying breed of risk takers. Sometimes that translates to a little less safety than some are comfortable with. We will learn and do what we can to fix it.

Once again my apologies to anyone that felt endangered or got wet standing on the dock.

Course Director CBPBA

Oh, and thanks John for running the pace boat for us, your expertise is always appreciated out there on the race course. Obviously if you see something that you feel is wrong and/or unsafe please let us know, you have more of these under your belt than I do :)
