Key West New P Class rules

The new P Class rules are posted on the SBI web. site. This will be for ALL the P Class boats....

Re: Key West New P Class rules

The new rule seems to push boats down a class. If the "average lap speed" is up to 69.9 mph for P5, doesn't that open up P5 to boats that can run in the mid to upper 70's? And doesn't that effect P4 thru P1 the same way? Did I interpret the rule wrong? APBA P class rules for 2005 don't seem to have changed.

That rule just made my boat, Pap Dukes, Great Adventure, Carrabas, Shogun, Joker, etc completely uncompetative.

Thats OK, Kean University will be there racing, but the 24 Pantera will not

Yep, I just talked to John Carbonell and he said I can switch boats, I broke mine anyhow in deerfield and It would be a huge effort to have it ready anyway.

Re: Key West New P Class rules

I'm wondering if SBI realizes the impact this has, especially on P5. Does anyone know why the rule was changed. Can anyone find out? It would seem that they would have changed the rule to conform with APBA (top speed rather than average lap speed). I'm not saying that either is prefferable but at least it would be consistent.

Scott,
We aren't as fortunate as you are. We have been laid up since New York and our season is over. If the SBI rules remain the same we may never race with them again.
