Re: Racers Wake Up
Frank,
We run OPA first and most obvious, because its close to home, and there was prize money. Unfortunately, some of the big money venues didnt come through this year. We cant drive down to Florida every other week . We would if we could. But why blow off a race in NJ to race in Fla? Doesnt make sense and will not until there is a way to subsidize our expenses. My question is why wouldnt you keep the specs for F-1 the same as APBA and just change the engine package? This way many existing F-1 boats would come back. They would have no problem unloading their 500efis or 525s and dropping in 496s. |
Re: Racers Wake Up
The goal of F1/ F2 is to make an affordable price boat and to hit a goal speed at that price...

Re: Racers Wake Up
[QUOTE]They have an impressive schedule as they did last year, but only 2 came thru, oops excuse me 4 because Great Lakes bailed their asses out.
Trent, It is very obvious you are all about SBI or APBA which will always be around!!! Well you maybe right in that aspect, And I am not going to get into the demographs of either one of those santioning bodies, Why? Because I am not against them, but like you I am voicing MY opinion, as stated ealier all have thier issues! But from a fan aspect i would certainly perfer 10 supercats starting more than one! As a racer, competition is why you compete, as a crew chief/or crewmember you want competion to hone your skills and knowledge. If you want to be at the top you have compete, racing by yourself isnt competeing. |
Re: Racers Wake Up
Man, I wouldn't knock the Poker Run People. They have a GREAT thing going there and they all support us! Plus, ya gotta have some pair of ball$ to lay out that kind of money. They are all CLASS as far as I'm concerned. And with some Very Beautiful Women.

Re: Racers Wake Up
Augie,
No one is knockin the poker run guys. Just stating a fact. You dont need to have balls to lay out that kind of cash. You just need the cash . plain and simple. Lets not change the subject |
Re: Racers Wake Up
Bruce,
I agree with what you said, and why you raced OPA that is my exact point...it was because you had a choice.Every team has to make them and make choices for what works bests for them, would of sucked if you didnt have a choice and there was a race and it was to far or a bad weekend for you.The more races on schedules the more choices we have.... Re: Racers Wake Up
Frank your right, but that doesn't help in the grand sceme of things
"THE BIG SHOW" is what attracts spectators and sponsors. If there was only one association running a race every two weeks, all over the east coast with 80 - 100 dedicated race teams i would go wherever it was. No complaints. But, they need to offer more. ie better purse, tv exposure, ect ect. discounts for hotel and restaurants |
Re: Racers Wake Up
SS class exists ONLY in SBI. Doesn't do any good to go to an APBA race and run a p-class. Experience and wheel-time sure, but expenses are not worth it.
I'd like to go to races on a few schedules, but it doesn't make $$ sense. Only 2 races outside of FLA. in SBI doesn't help me with National sponsors. How can it help anyone? |

Re: Racers Wake Up
Bruce, I agree with you totally, the more race teams together, the better the event and the more money to be raised for purses, who wants to beat up there equipment and win 750.00 which does not even cover there weekend expenses let alone the cost and maintenance of the boat and truck,we all need to be on the same page or we all need to piss our money away on something else.
