Re: Where are the Factory Teams in Factory 1?
Well no chit. When did the 32 go away? It was called a 32 Fever. Guess that would explain why nobody's done one of these in SVL.
Thanks, Brian |
Re: Where are the Factory Teams in Factory 1?
Strange..
I am a huge F-1 fan and Fountain owner.. If Fountain makes the fastest F-1 boat, how come Activator, Warlock, Velocity, Kriptonite, Lavey Craft have been winning all the F-1 Racing since around 1999. We have the most money, and the fastest boat how come we can't win a championship???? Confused  |

P4-33,
Theres the Y2K 30' (32' LOA) Superboat. Single engine. Choice of hull layups. With 496 goes 76mph. Rick |
Re: Where are the Factory Teams in Factory 1?
dowhat,
Having run both the Fountain and the Activator, and I know Gino agrees, the handling of the smaller sitdown style F1 is many times better. And when your racing the handling is everything. The speed records look good in the press and I'm sure that sells boats. Thats whats important in NC. Mike Sadlon |
Re: Where are the Factory Teams in Factory 1?
Mike,
Thats a good point, the 29 is a hand full in any kind of water. Its not always how fast you are but how fast you can get around a race course. Frank "Koolhand" |
Re: Where are the Factory Teams in Factory 1?
Frank,
From your experiances then would you say the 29' is a bit to small????? Like to hear the opinion of someone who raced one. Lets face it by the time you take away the beak and the swim platform aren't you at 25-26' feet. |

FX10,
That is going to be a great boat for the class. John Jr's boat was very fast as well as Fast Eddies boat that I ran twice with him, once in Pt Pleasant and once testing in Ft Lauderdale. |

Re: Where are the Factory Teams in Factory 1?
Having run the 29 Fountain F1 in some big seas...I don't ever see Fountain putting a lid on a 29 and racing in SVL. At 75-78mph and running it loose in 3 to 5 foot seas....well its hard to explain..but everybody should do it once in there lives....I can't see the 29 running 87-90 mph in 3 to 5 foot sea's competing with the Phantoms and Extreams....If some one dose I would love to get behind the wheel of and give it a shot...but I think any of the guys that have race the F1's in a Fountain knows and can show you what happends in big seas at 80..You all have seen the cartoons when someone gets hit over the head with a frying pan and they see birds flying around...well we in the F1 Fountain club..we've seen every type of bird ther is...I think it was the F1 Patroit team and us that were the only Fountains in Cape Cod in 2002 in 6-8 with acc. 10 footers....to sum it up....I rather see some people found gilty for theft to spend a hour racing in those conditions in my boat then spend 6 months to a year in jail....thats the only way I can explain it...I will say the Patroit team finish 4th in that race and we finished 5th out of I think 11 or so F1's....As far as why the Activator and Warlocks ect. always in front...Coming out of a 29 Fountain and into a 27 Activator is day and night once you get over 75 mph in 2 to 3 footers...and 65 mph in 5 to 7 footer....I don't know if any F1 fountain has seen a continues 80 to 82 mph in 5 to 6 foot seas...I will say I have been in that Activator at 80-82mph in 4 to 5 footers for a long straight away....its sounds nuts but Marks boat will do it...now don't get me wrong your on the edge and maybe sometimes over it but that boat will do it....Now for the 29 Fountain with the new F1 rules with the 496 and top speeds only being 73-76 mph...I think the Fountain will do good there...the boat still handles good there in 1 to 3's and is fast...but even with the 496 in big seas...the warlocks and lavycrafts and a few Manufactues will win even with the slower speeds....
just my 2 cents on my exp. in both the Fountain and the Activator....and buy the way I have eatin more fiberglass in the Fountain....and lost a few pints of blood...and I'm a little shorter now....and the back...well lets just say.....you can always talk about memeries.....and the good part I have alot of it on film....but either way I had fun doing it. And I know guys like Frank, Chris W,Mark, Mike, Lute and a few others that read this are going to be laughing..and memories will come back...I guess you just had to be there and seen us after a big water race.... Racing F1...Sometimes its like being a ginnypig with the wheel automatically moving fast and someone taped you feet together so you can't run and your just tumbling.....them were the go old days.... I'm suprised Randy hasn't started a thred on "TELL US YOUR STORIES OF YOUR EXPERENCES IN A F1 RACE....Hell that would get us right till April....just on the stories of guys being ejected and kissing water and fiberglass. Gino,
Thanks for your opinions on the subject, knowing what you know about the Fountains. Thanks, DPT |
