Mercury Sponsoring Truex?????????
does mercury give any sponsorship money to any superstock teams?
|
Re: Mercury Sponsoring Truex?????????
the money is in Nascar......
|
Re: Mercury Sponsoring Truex?????????
Mercury Marine sponsors Truex not Mercury Racing. Nascar is unfortunately a better place to spend money then Offshore. Very unfortunate but true.

Re: Mercury Sponsoring Truex?????????
maybe its time we let other outboard manufacturers in and get some competition for mercury.then maybe instead of putting money into nascar they would sponsor a boat.right now they have no competition so they don't have to put anything into it.every team has to buy motors from them.

Re: Mercury Sponsoring Truex?????????
That is a great idea that can make the sport grow. The question is will Mercury like it??? The problem is right now that Johnson/Evinrude probably will not get involved due to there buy out from Bombardier which supposedly has not been financially supportive so I hear. If what I heard is true the I would not expect anything out of them. So then the other alternatives would be Honda and Yamaha. Both are raced over seas in classes that have never been introduced or made it for that matter if it was introduced here. Biggest thing going on now is that everything as far as outboards go is moving to Four-Stroke powered engines. While Mercury plans on building the parts for the 2.5 race motors the other companies probably would not want to go any route other then four-stroke. Would be great to see.

here is what they are doing:http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=95457

Re: Mercury Sponsoring Truex?????????
Why the outrage? Nascar car is probably a great venue for them. They have to market where their buyers are. I don't think that racers are but a small blip on there sales charts. Their involvement in offshore the way I see it is product development, and a tool for marketing their pleasure craft product.

Re: Mercury Sponsoring Truex?????????
once again nobody in offshore can see the forest through the trees!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is not sponsorship.it's a slap in the face to offshore racing.i can assure you that they are paying no less than a million to be on the busch and cup cars.ther giving 150,000 and making 10 times that because everyone has to use thier motors.i can't wait until merc changes the motor again and everyone has to go spend another 30,000 in two years.actually in two years the boats are not competitive anymore.spec racing does not work!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Mercury Sponsoring Truex?????????
Is it true that DPT Motorsports is the "Virtual Crew Chief" for the Tracker Boats # 8 Team? :drink: :drink: :drink:
|
Re: Mercury Sponsoring Truex?????????
I wish I had a 1/4 of the knowledge that a Nascar Crew Chief has. If I did I would not be around Offshore for long. I would be going where I could really cash in.
Ready to haul boats again Sharkey??? Looks like we are going to get lucky with the weather I hope. Truex is looking pretty good so far. Unfortunate thing is all the DEI cars are spread out from one another. |

Re: Mercury Sponsoring Truex?????????
Stop looking at pictures and read about it or listen about it. It is going to change to rain down here. Are biggest obstacle is where to put the boats in the lot at Raritan.
Jr and Truex are running in reach of one another. I think if they can get hooked up together they will move there way through the pact and up to the front. If DEI does not do it I would really like to see Wildman Tony Stewart get his first Daytona 500 Victory. |
Re: Mercury Sponsoring Truex?????????

Mercury Racing loves competition, as long as everyone is running Mecury Racing product. And as for the rest of your statement... "i can't wait until merc changes the motor again and everyone has to go spend another 30,000 in two years." I agree, but I strongly feel that spec racing DOES work! If Volvo, Bombardier, Evenrude/Johnson, maybe even Yamaha, (remember their stern drives?) were allowed, indeed invited into offshore racing, on an even playing field, we may be amazed as to where our sport could go. Offshore racing just needs to understand that as long as Mercury Racing pulls all the string, runs the show, holds a monopoly on the power allowed and makes all the money, then offshore racing will be nothing more than OSS. |
