AMF- Part 2

Racing mountain cafe motorcycles through the mountains of Mexico on the Mexican-American racing team and running a hospitality establishment in Puerta Vallarta, take him back south of the border for a brief period of time. Mountain cafe racing, a fanatical experience for all participants, in that, the start is similar to the start of a powerboat race when all racers battle for the front position upon rooster-tailing it out of the milling circle, as the green smoke emerges, signaling the race is underway. Swapping rough water for rugged terrain, these dare-devil cyclists set their race in motion as the group charge up the side of a treacherous mountain and then leave the outcome to Darwin’s theory of “survival of the fittest” to decide who will arrive at the summit first to be crowned “king of the mountain“.

Disappearing over a 300 foot cliff and landing in a tree, left John in the hospital for three months, and the accident is still remembered today as remnants from the collision are still being uncovered. Upon recovery, he found himself once again stateside, building a polo arena field and preparing for a new endeavor. One can only contemplate what his next venture was? If you thought polo, then you are catching on to his drive, determination and desire for action. Playing polo fervently, consumed his every moment until he suffered a severe leg injury on-set from a corner board splitting accident. Following the mishap, strict doctors’ orders took him off the polo field and into an executive office chair and starting up two new business enterprises. It was during this time period, that he achieved the financial success to fund his current ambitious endeavors and, as well, fell madly in love with his current Dutch fiancé. First he started a successful public broadcasting promotion’s company selling media and press equipment worldwide and secondly, he formed a partnership with his fiancé where together they began breeding and selling Dutch Warmblood horses. Nevertheless, the corporate world gets old at a faster rate then turbines burn fuel. Seeing that speed has been in this man’s blood since his early days, it has developed into a life-long dependency in him. Addictions to speed come in many forms and degrees and a 51 feet Outerlimits is this man’s current fix. Hold on- pull back on the throttles because twin Sterling 1200s didn’t satisfy his rush. He recently joined forces with John Arruda of Turbine Marine to design and install the first set of twin 1350 T 53 Lycoming turbines ever placed in a V-hull.

So instead of asking “Who‘s Johnny?”, John can respond by simply quoting Carson and Nicolson, “Here’s Johnny, I’m back”! So, fasten your safety straps and position your helmet and head-set because John Haggin and his team AMFOffshoreracing have arrived. You can find www.AMFOffshoreracing.com at the following upcoming events. The team will be sponsoring the Poker Runs of America Race in Sarasota, FL on April 1-2nd. Following that event they are holding a historic, not to be missed APBA sanctioned Kilo Run at Crescent Lake in Crescent City, Florida on April 20-22nd, where he will attempt the world’s water speed record for sport yachts. In addition to the aforementioned venues, the team will on site at the pits during future WPR races including this month’s opening race in Miami on April 17th, and on the course at upcoming summer OPA venues, as www.AMFOffshoreracing.com proudly welcomes two distinguished offshore racers Scott Begovich of Kean University and Augie Pensa of Nesquik to the family.

Wasn't SPANKY kind of like the GODFATHER of the Little Rascals as well? Maybe they do have some things in common.
