On behalf of the so called "BORED" members

As a proud member, also a board member of the NOIC, I'm curious as to why some people who are "paid members" and have joined willingly, continue to slander the club and its associates.
Our club started with a few good friends who wanted to promote fun boating. Our club has grown and requires more work and input than ever before. The "BORED" as we have been called in the past, recognises the fact that we need to make some changes. We are working on these changes.
Some changes have already been made, others will happen over time. These "bored" members voulenteer their time to the club. We are not paid! This takes time away from our familys and jobs.
This post will not be deleted!

In a word, KIRK.

He's a bad apple.

I saw some of the posts and I think Kirk's humor was lost on some people. He only had praise for the club when he convinced me to join.

Re: On behalf of the so called "BORED" members

Mark J -

I inquired as to why the club website does not list the activities on the Activities Calenders, which was never addressed in your rambling post. My original comments about the "Bored" were initially in good fun. I do appreciate the efforts of the Board and appreciate almost everyone on the Board. I have done a decent job of promoting the club to others (see Brad's post above), however, when things are wrong or bad they need to be pointed out to be improved.

It was poor planning on the club's part to schedule an event on Mother's Day - period.

To state this is not official NIOC media is ridiculous, it's a boat club, nothing more. There are enough participating members here in the "NIOC" Section of OSO that this would have been the smartest place to post information on activities or changes in activities. Instead you sit in your garage and post what you think are witty comments that nobody understands. Your comments that some members mother's are dead and this was part of the reason the Andy Frano Run was scheduled on Mother's Day was deranged and uncalled for. Then you further stated that it is not the responsibility of the Board to inform the members of the changed date and it was our responsibility to call and find out. That's a pretty poor attitude for a "Bored" member. There are a couple of you "Bored" members that appear to be on the Board just to feel important.

If the Board needs help and/or are overwhelmed let the membership know, we certainly would like to see and help the club improve. Deal with the critisism, it might just make it a better club to be enjoyed by everyone. Isn't that the intent of the NIOC?

Mark S - I'll deal with you later! :D

Re: On behalf of the so called "BORED" members

Kirk,

I consider you my friend, HOWEVER, this is the third time (who's counting?) you have publiclly insulted and denigrated the volunteers who comprise the board. Furthermore, not only is my wife a board member, I was also part of this fine group not long ago. I have personally sacrificed family, weekend, work, and boating time to assist with the newsletter, board events, etc. It's a constant juggling act, thankless to say the least.

The current board has a herculean task with which they're confronted , and I commend them for the job they are doing. This is not the FPC, not now, or in the future. If you feel you have something to contribute, please feel free to run for the board.

Best Regards,

Mark Steidinger
Ps: most of my posts are from hotel rooms!

2. Does your wife know about you being in so many hotel rooms without her? :D

Re: On behalf of the so called "BORED" members

I didn't have any problem finding out the event was rescheduledsince the Board did their job and put the info on the hotline. Not to mention it WAS on OSO under" ice breaker party". Granted it didn't have it's own thread, but the people complaining seem to spend enough time on this site, you'd think they could read all the posts. I only check it once or twice a week, but I figured it out and I'm not even all that bright.

I have offered my services to the Commodore.

Evidently I should have left Mark's post up longer. Had any of you seen it, you would understand or have a better appreciation for my position and attitude on this subject.

Enough. I will address this and other issues with the oppropriate party, it's been a long time coming anyway!

Re: On behalf of the so called "BORED" members

Everybody....... settle down, we're just a boat club looking to entertain ourselves on the weekends!
I beleive Kirk has said many things in a jokingly matter on this website, and other things were meant as positive suggestions for improvement.
I personally thought Mothers Day was also a bad day to plan a run but so what, correct it next year, it's just one bar hopping run around the chain........there will be others!
I also personally think that all communication should be posted by email and the hotline to all NIOC members. Just about everybody has a chance to check there email every day or so, and not everybody will make the effort to call a hotline number. An email is simple to send out to all of the members and gives an immediate time stamp to the message.
Also, for those of us club members going to the Ozarks there should be a list emailed out of who is going so we can coordinate some activities together if we feel so inclined. I have not seen that yet and I'll be leaving on Thursday morning!
Must I go to the Party Cove alone?

Lonely in Bartlett!

Ask Cannon, he started this thread. I simply replied as to why I was so disappointed in his previous post, lack of updated information by the club and the explaination of the Mothers Day Andy Frano Run. No more, no less.

He must have felt it necessary to defend something

Pete, no one here has used profanity, and I know you're not talking to me like that...right?

And all of you are aware of the Spell Check button, but elect not to use it I assume. :p

Lighten up! It's going to be High 70's to low 80's this weekend and I have full fuel!

That's the forecasted temperature. I'll post another GPS speed soon. So far only 74.9 on GPS with Matt, me and 3/4 fuel. Much better, but not what I want.

Are you in a hotel room again? Good thing you're the owner, that way no one can scrutinize your room bill with all the "Adults Only" movies. :p

Re: On behalf of the so called "BORED" members

The Mother's Day weekend event was not my first choice. The board made a decision and I have to support the decision.
The NIOC is a form of a business. For a business to function properly, you must have a plan or a system in place. Currently, the NIOC does not have a system in place to reliably inform members of any changes with posts on OSO. We do have other systems in place, that we as a Board feel are reliable.
The NIOC website is, in fact, updated by a voulinteer that is not even a Board member. It is my feeling that There is not a reliable system to get info from the Board to the public VIA website. That is somthing we are working on. We are planning a system similar to the one the CPC has in place. Our problem is, it costs money and time. we are suffering from a lack of both.
If you would like the most up to date info, call the Hotline 1 847 289 REEF (7333). For now, I feel this is the most reliable, up to date source we have.

Re: On behalf of the so called "BORED" members

How does this club not have a plan or system in place after being in existance for over 4 years?

There is now a system and individual in place to notify members of changes and events on OSO. Bruce asked me to post the Fox Run and now everyone knows about the event and the scheduled time.

Unfortunately the NIOC website is not updated. It has the calenders under the Activities page and they only list the monthly General Meetings and Board Meetings. Since the club is already paying for the site, it is the most effective way to schedule events. I'm sure everyone appreciates the volunteer that handles the website, unfortunately, they may not have been informed of the schedule of events or changes. If that person needs help from others, just ask.

Paying for another method to inform the membership is not required, and would be a waste of membership money. Providing an updated website, posting on OSO, the hotline (if updated) and an email list, the information will get out.

As of 8:51 PM the REEF Hotline still contains info regarding the Andy Frano Run on May 21, therefore, I do not believe it is the most up to date info as you stated.

Try OSO!!

If you got such great ideas, START YOU'RE OWN CLUB! Give the board a break! They are working on a NEW site. It still takes a VOLUNTEER to update the hotline, and from what I can tell, that is Rose, who I'm sure has better things to do than please you! I have been using the hotline quite often, and it is usually updated quite promptly. The Fox Run is still 3 weeks off. Give her a chance to get close. The meeting comes before the run, you want to bust on her ( or the rest of the hard working board members) for that too.
I have been trying to be neutral and humorous about this whole thing, but enough is enough. If you have a personal problem with one particular member, exchange e-mails and take it up with each other. Right now, all you are doing is making the whole club look badly airing your dirty laundry in a very public forum. No one is going to want to join a club full of "Desperate Boat *****es". (that reference is for the ladies)
Calendars were given out at the last meeting. I'm sure the board is working on sending it out to all those who missed it.
Thank you Kirk for offering your free time to post info on OSO while the website is being updated. I'm sure the (whole) board is greatful for your time and effort, but please, stop busting their balls.
Yes, the boat club has been together for a long time. Closer to 7-8 years, But the current board is still fairly new and learning to work together. Please give them a little slack.
I'm done. EVERYBODY, please have a safe weekend. I hope to see you all out having a good time.
