Bl6, this is what the J2005 says:
"In most applications involving thru-transom exhaust the microphone location should be 1 m (3.3 ft) aft of the intersection of the vertical plane of the aft-most part of the transom and the vertical plane of the port-most or starboard-most part of the gunnel at the specified height of 1.2 to 1.5 m (4 to 5 ft) above the surface of the water with the microphone oriented toward the exhaust outlet(s)." If you still can't pass and want to mess with them legally, you can get them for not following the user manual of the meter. This is from J2005: "5.2 Proper use of all test instrumentation is essential to obtain valid measurements. Operating manuals or other literature furnished by the instrument manufacturer should be consulted for both recommended operation of the instrument, and precautions to be observed." I have the manual for the meter that ottowa county uses. It states: "A. Meter / Microphone Placement Whenever possible, the meter should be tripod-mounted in a relatively open area to minimize reflections from the body or other large reflective structures. Avoid placement against a wall or in a corner." If there boat is past your transom it creates a wall and a corner. |
There are some new faces in the Sheriff boats this year that bring the boats to the Wharf every Tuesday and seem to be really nice guys! They don't have the tough guy attitude like others! I might be jumping the gun but I don't think they are out to get everyone this year. Alot of guys are making the effort and I think they see that. Hopefully with the weather finally warming up, this will be a better year then last!!
By the way gas went down $.16 last night!!!!:drink: |

Anybody want to buy the 4 new CMI SE muffler I bought because of Dykehouse. I have an add her on OSO, they are brand new in the box. I can't run them with my new motors, so I am going back to my orginal CMI's.
|
My new motors will not like them, they will be 1000hp or more, so my engine builder said don't put them they won't work well with my new setup. I'll be putting my old CMI's back on.
