It is true, I bought a seadoo and brought it over, they could not care less, show them a bill and the ad where you found it, and they are happy. luckily I had owned the trailer already and it was already plated in ontario. for me the whole process took 15 minutes, 12 of which were waiting in line. good luck, should go smooth, and it's true, there are a ton of broker houses around all the bridges and they can handle everything.

You can find a broker anywhere at a border. His broker was a small house down the street from the Fort Erie Bridge and frankly the entire street was lined with brokers. There are over a dozen of them right then on one street across the street from the Office at the Bridge.
Pick one :ernaehrung004:[/QUOTE] You need a broker on the canadian side NOT the us side !!!!!!! |
Importing a boat and trailer
I brought in a boat and trailer a year ago. No need for a broker, its a walk in the park. You will need bill of sale for the boat and one for the trailer. You will need a 'letter of recall' from the trailer manufacturer. Now if you get creative and cross at a province with no PST you only pay GST. When you register the boat with the Coast Guard there does not seem to be a connection between provincial and federal so again you may get away without paying PST,(just confuse then a bit) and you can save some cash. I have had no problems with importing, taxes, registration, did have to go through the RIV program with the trailer, took longer to walk across the parking lot than to do the inspection at Canadian Tire. Its very easy to complete this whole deal and worthwhile. By the way I hauled from Central US to western Canada without a license plate on the trailer as well, no issue, didnt get a plate till after the CanadianTire Inspection. Good luck
