I'll be on the Mississippi, got a slip for the weekend at Hawkeye's Marina. Should be beautiful weather.

Was considering a trip...possibly the U.P. but Castle Rock is closer. Wonder if they have any camp sites left...supposed to be rather cool up there this weekend. Sorry for last weekend, decided to run to Milwaukee instead...partied on the river then got a slip at McKinley for over night...which turned out to be a good choice because we ran into another party there....ugh...long weekend.

Cool, if you have never been to La Crosse and north of that, you need to do a La Crosse on up trip. The scenery from La Crosse to Prescott is some of the prettiest around. Sand bars are plentyful, much narrower river and lots of river towns. Only hassle is the many more locks/dams that you need to navigate.

Not sure about whats left to camp at, I am staying at The Bavarian Campground, kinda a joe dirt campground but its cheap and I spend most of the time on the water. Slips are availible at Dirty Turtle or ShipWreck, I think they are around 20 a night. Should be a good weekend.

Pretty consistant depths, about 15-20ft all acrost the lake, only stump like hazards I have ever heard about is up river by Lake Petenwell, there is some stuff marked, one by the Dirty Turtle. Some fairly good size boats runnin up there. There is a main hang out spot, a shallow run of sand that stretches off of a island, fairly large area but requires anchoring out. WP is pretty laid back never heard of them being dicks, the county is really trying to make it a recreational county and they treat you pretty well. There is 2 county parks and I believe you can launch at both with a day pass, both have long docks and will acomidate 30-35' boats with ease.
