Dick can make them last if you wanna spend the $$$.

You'll be asking for trouble on Bravo drives with supercharged engines---especially with boats approaching your size. Dick/Mr. Gadgets is very good at what he does....he has rebuilt my drives a few times----but I don't think even Dick can make your Bravo drives last with superchargers on your engines....it will be a roll of the dice, but if there is anyone I would take the chance with it is Dick!
Also, if you're looking for reliability with your engines, then WESCO (Jenison, MI) is TOPS in hi-perf marine stuff. |
That's kinda what I figured... Don't want trouble. Definitely want a turn-key boat. Can you put imco lowers on with larger diameter shafts throughout and still use the cases or would it just be more cost effective to get a set of B-Max drives? Don't want to go all the way to #6's or the like- I'd buy a different boat before I went that far. Sounds like XR's have their own sets of problems from some of the things I've read around the forums.... further thoughts? Just want to know what I should be looking for when I decide to take on this project (for budget purposes).

I agree you have a bigger boat and you don't want to have issues. But I would still call Dick and let him know your plans/goals. He will point you in the right direction.
Amount of boost, type/style of charger and how you are on the sticks makes a big difference in how long a Bravo can last. |
