Need a good high performance mechanic in Chicago area

I'm looking for a good mechanic in the chicago land area that specializes in high end performance engine modifications on Mercury 496 motors. I have a Formula 370SS and is in storage at the Fox chain. Need a guy who can travel out to the boat and work on it there. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

In Wisconsin: Mel Riggs 920-872-2728

In Waukegan, Ill Ateco Engines 847-623-2738

Both are excellent!

Ateco now has a large service center in Volo IL (just south of Fox Lake) along with the engine and dyno shop in Waukegan. They specialize in high performance marine engines and do a lot of work for the largest high performance boat dealers in the area.

+3 great experience with Ateco and Bill is a great guy to deal with. Follow-up no problem to make sure everything is perfect. Plus he is an advertiser/supporter of this forum.:ernaehrung004:

I think you are going to have a hard time finding someone who will travel and work in
your storage unit. However Keith has traveled for Shogren when they had work for him
so he might be interested. He is my mechanic and does performance boats. Best to go
to the shop to talk to him. His shop is off Rt. 12 down a couple of side roads from
downtown Fox Lake.

496HO Upgrade

We can help you with anything you need done.

We have two fully certified Merc techs and do alot of work on 496, 525, 600, 700's. We use ATECO for all our engine rebuilds and have for 7 years without one comeback.

Please feel free to call with any questions, we have done several 496HO header upgrades. if you want more HP and not just headers, trade in the 496HO and get 525, it will add and hold value vs hopped up motors.

Service work

I am not sure who gave you this information but Keith does not travel or work for us, we do all work in house outside of paint.

Keith on another note is very good at what he does.

Regards,

Scott Shogren
