My Rant!!!!!!!
 

i write this today rather disillusioned with the state of gov in Canada TODAY....
what an absolute waste of good paper, among other things...... our once beloved system of government, tolerance and justice.......we all enjoyed here at home
i remember a time when the RCMP and the CROWN COURT systems were something we looked up to , respected ... and were very proud of
as CANADIANS.... THE WORLD i think envied us......and our system

THE STORY

the end of May last yr i took my new boat out to do some prop testing on the lake where i live.......to dial her in
as i head away from shore and the boat launch warming the engine up, i looked ahead to examine the water conditions
after breaking the no wake zone i brought the tub up on plane and went out about 3 miles where i decided to get everything in order
allowing the boat to idle for a bit i started to set my graphs up in my notebook for the afternoon of WOT testing for top speed with various props
a few minutes later i was hailed by an RCMP cruiser that they were coming along side for an inspection......
no worries i had the needed gear aboard......lifejacket, license,ect...everything necessary........
as it turns out i didnt have the paper copy of the number registration aboard, BC numbers in my case.....on board....
to this the Officer said that he was going to write me a contraventions ticket ........
as he was writing me up for the ticket i asked if when they came off the water later that afternoon they would rescind the ticket if i was there waiting for them with the copy of the paper registration and that usually there was a 24hr grace period to produce documents....
he ignored my ? gave me the speel on how to dispute etc etc........ and proceeded to also say that he noted that my exhaust system was in contravention of the new week old regulations to the maritime act ,and was going to give me a check up slip for the through hull exhaust and that i would be required to leave the water till i complied.....he had a copy of the new regs aboard wich i read
i was muttering to myself that this P@@@K was becoming a bit of a C$$KS$$$$$R but knowing that i wouldent win any argument i headed back to boat launch,town,and home
some weeks later after some deliberation on June,i decided to dispute the ticket and proceeded to the Registry, Chilliwack Courts in BC
Received a Court date Jan / 6 /2011
i had to rearrange my work schedule not only to accommodate the court date but my entire work week to make up time ........i work out of town .......and wasnt willing to do huge commutes with 2 days of work lost.........
i arrived at the Court House approximately 1 hr before i was due to appear to ask what room we would be in etc etc.....
the woman at the registry desk....... informed me after few ? she had that the Crown had decided to STAY THE PROCEEDINGS and that the matter had been dismissed she even said that they had to get special permission from Superiors in Vancouver to STAY THESE PROCEEDINGS>i was thank full and vindicated that the whole affair was nothing but ****E anyways......and asked when the date was that all this had been decided.......
she told me the decision came down 2 days prior on Jan 4 2011
i then asked why havent i been notified of these changes and that if i wasnt required to appear in court , that i could have remained at work to complete my week out instead of all the rearranging i had to do in the holliday season to maintain my responsibilities at work as well
she said they didnt have a phone num for me which i called her on and said i wanted photo copies of the paper work and the name and phone number of the CROWN PROSECUTOR whom i think is responsible to ask his or her secretary ........ or at least someone....... to dial a phone num......... and inform........
anyways......after spending over an hr on the phone this morning
the 7th of Jan 2011 and just shy of 6 long distance phone calls NO ONE.... not even senior supervisory personnel in the CROWN PROSECUTORS OFFICE in Vancouver BC would even proffer a simple APOLOGY,.......... I ASK YOU THIS .......
HAVE WE SUNK THIS LOW?????
i sincerely doubt that i am alone in how i feel........

Just "more of the same", if you want a good barometer of how bad the police/governemt meddling and the "Nanny state" we have become just take a look at the footage from the G20 earlier this year in TO, Politians passing "mystery" laws whithout anyone knowing about it [then denying it] officers covering up there badges and name tags so they couldn't be identified, HUNDREDS of taxpayer funded boondgoggles that cost billions of dollars, yet, NEVER is anyone in government held accountable?

Just curious, will the RCMP be enforcing the noise law during the Poker Run? I ran open on the Shuswap and Okanagen all summer and no issues; maybe I was just lucky.... its to bad the RCMP couldnt find more productive ways to spend their time or at least on items that are bad for us!!

Well sorry this happened to you, but I am glad to see that the U.S. is not the only pain in the a$$. They are doing this as well down south here.

poker runs and races are exempt from the new laws because they are considered to be a sanctioned event, thru hull exhaust is allowed

Sadly its not worth the remaining Sanity you may have left to try to reason with todays government idiots.

If you ever get a yearning to fight ,argue , or simply reason with these government welfare robots ,go out in your shop and find a hammer and pound your self in the head until you come to your senses.
