Had my jet boat out up near there on the 4th of July this year. This is one of the beaches down near the Dells. Didn't see too many hotboats, but I did see an older Mirage and a Sunsation cruise through. Beautiful area to boat at.

Yep, down below the dam from Castle Rock. Wish we had locks to get down there . Some nice parts of the river south.

Is there much room at the lake to stretch a boats legs? Been nervous to go there. Been to there years ago and the bars were fun but it just looks small on the map plus i have heard there's some serious shallow spots there.

There are some shallow areas but nothing that sneaks up on you if you do a little scouting. i.e. ask a regular. I mean some of the wilderness shorelines can have shallow areas but you dont see boaters over there for a reason. Its a big lake . If you run from the far south end by the Castle Rock Dam straight North to the Railroad trestle , its a haul. You cant see it from the dam , or at least I cant. Check a lake map for the shallow areas so you know what to avoid but like I said its not bad. Just for perspective, if you scroll to the top you can see the river all the way to the Petenwell dam and how shallow that is. You can run all the way to that dam by following the DNR center channel buoys. Got to be 15 , 20 miles from the southermost part of the lake to the dam.
