Put in Bay Info
I know there have been a ton of threads about put in bay, but I have never been there and need some help. A buddy has convinced me to take a bachelor party over by boat this Friday. I've decided to launch at bolles harbor (the state ramp). I've been to Kelly's Island with the LEOPA guys, so I have a basic idea. I need some coordinates or maps or something of how to get to the state dock from there. Any danger areas? Sandbars, Rocks, etc...? Yes, i have a gps so that will be helpful, just looking for a basic idea of where to go once on the lake. Thanks in advance.

Easy ride no problems look for the perrys monument and head for it, usually you can see it miles away. North winds late in the week which might mean rough conditions. You should have no problem docking at state docks this weekend.

Just go wide on the North East corner of PIB, Go around the marker if you go on that side of the island.

I just made my first trip there a couple weeks ago. Launched at Monroe, took less than an hour across. I think its 32 miles one way. Coming in, I put a GPS waypoint north of the main harbor at PIB between the two islands, worked out real good. There is a small island in the way coming into the area you have to skirt around but no big deal. Once you get there just follow the traffic or ferries into the harbor. If you need I can look up the actual coordinates but it will be a day or two until I will be around the boat. Be aware there were some nets laid out coming out of Monroe when I went over.

look out for dead heads!!
Look out for dead heads just sayin!!!!!

Do Not Go Between The Little Island And Put In Bay Large Rocks Just Under The Water Follow Jet Express In To Be Safe
|
Your best bet is to stop at West Marine and get a chart of the area.... Then you will have a good idea of the shallow areas.. Make sure you follow Ed's comment above!!

Sure did. No big deal as I had hoped for. Sure was some fun water coming back though (especially with a bunch of hungover passengers). Good 3-4's I would say.

I went for the day on Sunday the 25th. THere was very little wind, but someone forgot to tell Lake Erie that. The ride to and from was pretty rough. As a matter of fact I completly lost a trim tab. Not sure if I struck something or if it was a freak landing, but on it's way off the boat it took out a good chunk of my swim platform........ Needless to say that was my last trip for the season as the boat is now in the shop for repairs.............
