TC to lake charlevoix??
hey guys, so i have never made the trip from traverse to lake charlevoix and have always wanted to. now that i have my 251 i feal that it is more than doable. any advice on what to watch for?no wake zones? places to hang out? places to see? let me know! i have a friend coming up from indianapolis bringing his zt280, and another friend might drag his 283 convincor up from cincinati around early august. we were also thinking about heading out to beaver island if the weather cooperates, any advice for a good day on the island would be appreciated as well:boat:

If you're leaving from west bay stay clear of the east shore, the water gets pretty thin north of power island and at the tip around the light house.

i do have full detail on my gps, just looking for insight as to where the fun is at:thankyouthankyou:

After you pass power island on west bay Im pretty sure your not going to find much till you get to lake char. Thats where the fun is. If my boat was back in the water I would say look me up.

Keep a open eye for can outside of Fishermans Island, can get very shallow on the inside. In Lake Charlevoix head for Oyster Bay, 2nd bay once you past Coast Guard station on North side.

If you look on charts there is a red can in front of cement factory, the next can towards TC is off the North West corner of Fishermans Island.

It's a fun run if the weather cooperates. Just watch your forecast closely. Did that run a couple years ago and the ride back got a little dicey.. and that was in a 35' boat.... As others have said, steer well wide of the shore of the Mission Peninsula as you head north. There's some fun to be had down in east bay south of the channel into Elk Rapids near the beach, but that's kind of out of your way. Otherwise is Power Island or Oyster/Horton Bay in Lake Char... Again- beware a NW wind- once you clear the Leelanau Peninsula- your at the mercy of the big lake.

I have ran out to Beaver Island several times in my 242 Formula, it is a nice run if the weather cooperates.
There is a private marina in the north side of the harbor, Beaver Island Marina. They take reservations, have lower docks then the municipal and rent Geo Trackers to go explore the island. |
would be a really cool run, let us know the date you get setup maybe we'll join you on the ride at least to Lk Charlevoix

Its a easy run Ross. I will join you anytime. Its one our favorites!!!
