You are in the heart of the new Rosemont area. They have the Toby Keith bar and grill, comedy club, new brewery as stated, Five Roses Irish Pub, And a mile down by free shuttle is Rivers Casino with great bands. Of course, Bionda is a must and yes on the Nana's Gravy. I didn't know they served anything else, lol! Actually, their pizzas are great too. 1924 s state st I believe. Enjoy.

By the way, if no rental car, they have reasonable flat rate taxi fares from there or the blue line. Very simple and cheap.

I do eat their pizza, mainly because every Monday night is 10 dollar pizza night, and im saving for gas money for the boat lol

But I wouldn't say its the best, or anywhere close.

If youre staying by the airport, keep in mind the drive into downtown flat out sucks on I-90/94, pretty much any time of the day. Typical drive times from downtown to the airport are 45-60 minutes. Its only a 15 mile drive. Only decent time to shoot downtown is between 10am, and head back around 2pm. Or, after about 7pm.

Heres a place not far from where you are staying that is pretty good. Theres also a few watering holes in that neighborhood, and pretty safe area.

The new rivers casino is nearby the airport, haven't been there but heard its good.

These are real close to your hotel also.

If you come into the city, Café Bionda is tough to beat. The food is excellent. Its a small place, but very nice. If you go, you have to get the ''Nana's Gravy" trust me on this.

Best advice yet. You need to Mild on this one, no one more Chitown than him. Born and raised!!!!

Thanks!

I'm not really sure what the guys I am going to be with are like and I am the only guy from Toronto going so I won't know anyone. If they are like me they will wanna get dinner and hit a bar after. Are there any bars around that area that will have girls? Most of the guys at training will be between 25-35.

I would like to visit Navy Pier but spending an hour to get there seems kinda of crazy if we are in class until 6pm. Any idea how much a flat rate cab would be you mentioned? The casino looks like it could be fun. Is it generally an older crowd? Any popular DePaul university hangouts or do they head into the city?

hammer01 02-22-2013 12:12 AM

Group flat rates to the city are $25ish per head or less. The bars right near your hotel are pretty fun but the college type bars are better found downtown. The casino is a mixed crowd.

Are you talking about the casino in Joliet or Indiana?

hammer01 02-22-2013 12:41 AM

Neither, Rivers Casino is about 1 mile down the road from the Rosemont complex. It opened about a year ago.
