Charlevoix suggestions
A couple of us are planning a trip to the Charlevoix area this July 10th to 15th. Any one have any suggestions on where to stay, and what to do?
We will be trailering there. Thanks for all your suggestions. |
There is a motel on north side of town, that would be ok if you day launch.
|
Hmmmm a 28 donzi outta marinette? By any chance are you the guy I met this spring at the launch in menominee?( I had the older 38 fountain on the trailer).
Better check out Boyne thunder while your in charlevoix, awesome to watch, even better to run in it. I've always had good luck staying at irish boat shop in charlevoix. Its right next to the city launch which has an excellent facility. I wish we had launches that well set up here in the UP. All the shops in downtown charlevoix are neat to walk around. I know I was in awe idleing through bay harbor. Impressive. |
Hey halfgassed! how are you doing? yup that would be me.
We are going over to spectate the run, i would love to run it but my boat isn't fast enough and my pockets aren't deep enogh... if your bored that week you should come join us. |
I've been told that charlevoix city marina is real nice, gonna be a busy weekend that's for sure, and hey you don't need a fast boat in a poker run, just a good hand...

I hear ya on the pocket depth, that part of the reason we're probably staying on this side of the lake this year. We had enough problem trying to get the boat out of the water last fall because of the low water levels and short launches in escanaba. We figured that if we do go to boyne this year we'll have to run the boat to menominee to pull it out (unless the water comes up). By the time I add up the fuel to run the boat from esky-menominee, the truck from marquette-esky-menominee and back to marquette.........then all the way to boyne I might as well fill the tanks and run the boat across the lake. We'll see what happens. Either way maybe we'll see ya's around this summer. We're planning on doing alot of door county runs. Plus we'd like to run down for waterfront fest this year. |

Talk him into taking the Pantera and staying on the boat!

I grew up in Charlevoix and you can't ask for a better area in the summer. The marina is great with floating docks and new facilities if you want to stay on your boat.
If you like throwing an anchor and staying the night, I recommend going and staying in Oyster Bay for the night. I had some of the best times ever boating there on my parents boat. The Americinn would be best for boat and trailer, but the other four suggested by BlueOval are best for enjoying what downtown has to offer. Parking at the launch is pretty safe and may be an option to leave overnight if you can lock the boat up or even talk to Dry Harbour south of town to leave the trucks and trailer. Scott and Barney the owners are pretty good guys. |
Thanks everyone for all the suggestions!
