The Anticipation Is KILLING Me!
 

I bought my first Formula last Spring and to make a long story short only had her out for 5 short runs trying to work out issues with the Port Engine..pretty much screwed my whole season and hopes to finally do the islands on MY OWN boat! Well the engine was pulled and rebuilt over the winter..since I am a Merchant Marine..out to sea now and dont have the facility to drop it in myself I have someone doing that for me so she is running when I get home the week before Memorial Day weekend! She is a work in progress but I will have her polished to the best of my ability and plan to be Island hopping that weekend! Im on OSO every single day checking up on events and looking at others beautiful boats getting ideas and planning the rebirth of mine! Hope to see some of you there and share some war stories and laughs over some cold beers! :boat::party-smiley-020::ernaehrung004:

I'm an Ohio boy and Lake Erie boater before moving down here to Fla. The feeling of waiting on the lake to thaw and the season to get there is like nothing else.

I used to spend a lot of weekends anchored off Pelee Island and the early arrivals were rewarded w/a beach covered w/driftwood just waiting to become the first bon fire of the season.
Was doing that one year when a Canadian sail boat pulled in and as soon as they were at anchor they all dove in the lake. Was very early season and water temp was still in the 40's!
They told me that was their Spring ritual to start a new boating season.
We then spent the night drinking around the fire. Only boats there and was epic.

I hear you buddy! I was planning to splash this weekend until they called for a freeze watch overnight. Temps down in the 20s!! This weather is crazy! Good luck with your project and ENJOY her!

My resin bucket..no name yet although I have called her many through the process..just nothing the Coast Guard would approve of! :lolhit:

I am new to the forum and located just West of you. I have launched at Miller, Sheffield and Lorain last couple of years. We had the "Voodoo" Baja 272 with the wild wrap running around. Moved into something a little bigger this year, picking it up this Friday and cannot wait! There are a good amount of runs this year, LEOPA and Vermillion Treasure Run. Hope to meet up, we have 2 other neighbors, 30' Outlaw and Scarab, that we run around with.

Is the SCARAB owners name Jimmy Voodoo? Im up for some runs while Im home for sure..I spent last season with my head in the engine compartment so I am definitely ready for sitting on the sun-pad with a cold one in hand this season! Ill be home the week before Memorial Day doing the mad dash to get her polished and waxed and do a few shakedowns off of Avon Lake to make sure she is ready for an island run..plans are to be island hopping with friends that weekend!

Nice ride Mach1..Definitely looking forward to meeting up and having some cold ones this summer! I was actually looking into Cedar Point for a few nights this summer..I worked for J&J years ago and brought boats over for shows..was always fun and a nice marina..because of my schedule and my Formula is a work in progress Ill be on a trailer for the next few years and just doing some transient docking here and there!
Sunrocket..thanks..she has a ways to go until she gets to where I want her to be but she is solid and its a labor of love! At the moment I am working on a research vessel in The Gulf of Mexico but I did work for 7 years on the lake freighters for Grand River Navigation aboard the McKee Sons..
