Water Levels?

I know "up here" parts of Northern Ontario are seeing record levels and flooding, places like Huntsville/Bancroft have declared states of emergency due to flooding. I am assuming some (most?) of this water will eventually flow into the Great Lakes and was wondering if you guys are seeing any change in water levels on the Great Lakes?

Hey Michael

Yes, lakes are up. We've had heavy rain for a week or so and roughly I would say we are up 6-8" More rain coming.

Plus when we get your run-off in June I am betting we will be at least at last years' levels!

----Im looking out my window right now and the Saint Clair river appears to be just about where it was for most of last summer. The small tributaries (Belle River, etc.) have got the American side very dirty at the moment. A week ago there was a huge amount of debris floating down toward Lake Saint Clair and thats always a sign of the smaller rivers water height being up from rain.
----Im keeping my fingers crossed for you guys over on the western side......Bill S

I was going to pose the same question, I have a brother that lives in Thunder Bay ontario (basically north west corner of Lake Superior) and they just got another foot of snow on Friday. He was saying water was high there so hopefully the other lakes will soon return to normal

I think Superior "should" come up this year, I have a buddy who was in Kapuskasing last weekend, some areas there still have 50" of snow, plus there is still 3 feet of ice. He doubts it will all be gone until AFTER the May long weekend.

I think Kap is far enough North that the water flows North, but, the Watershed Sputh of there should flow South into the Great Lakes, eventually.

I am heading to Kingston tommorow, will cruise by the ferry dock to check out the water levels. I heard the ferry is back to docking at the "summer" dock on Wolfe Island so the water must be up a bit.

The water level has come up about a foot at our local Marina in Windsor but is still low.
