PIB, Casino, CP July 20th weekend?

Just to add my 2 cents... i have been pulled over several times in the last few years for no reason. one of the times they gave me a DUI when i had 3 drinks w dinner at west bay inn and i blew a .081....yes folks thats 1/1000 over the limit. they then tested my wife and she blew a .078 which is legal to drive but they said they thought she was still on her way up. I was obviously not drunk( compared to what these coast gaurd guys see all day long) i had my dog and my wife and a friend on the boat, and i was trying to get in before a rain storm. They made me wait w them till the rain stopped then they gave me a tick for everything they could. DUI, expired flares,(2 weeks expired) and i couldnt find my registation at the time and the said my anchor light blinked so i got well over $1000 in tickets and they towed me into marblehead for the night. my buddy has property on PIB back by the airport so we go to PIB almost every weekend, the cops and coast guard are out in force and the harbor at PIB gets full on holiday wknds. You could try The Keys at PIB but it is private and its like $600 to reserve a spot for the summer. It is a blast up there at PIB and the other islands just be careful. if you are going into Sandusky Bay stay kinda close to the rock wall of CP and stay in the channel. That sandbar is marked by a RED can but the sand moves alot. I will be doing the thunderfest poker run so i will be up there that weekend. If worst comes to worst and you cant find a spot to dock we have a Morring Ball at the property on east side of PIB. It will probly have my AT and my buddys 42 fountain tied to it but it can hold more boats for sure. just message me if u need help.
I hear you on the bogus "drunk" thing. 3 years ago I got a BWI, .09 at the boat, .04 at the station...3 beers as well. They wrote it but the DA threw it out. I have a few rules since. If I day drink on the boat it's always vodka and a mix (no smell) and if I get stopped I stay away from them, try to keep them from
tying and boarding, and I lie to them and tell them I don't drink. It has worked 4 times since, knock on wood. Don't ever tell them you drink, if you are not comfortable lying like they do then refuse to answer. Know your rights and play poker with them, don't incriminate yourself and make their job hard. Tons of videos by law firms online to guide you through how you should handle DUI questioning.
Used to be a day when the water patrol was looking for drunks, this days have passed and now it is a crap shoot. 3 beers while enjoying the day shouldn't be an issue in my book, and they don't have the deadly data to support their efforts like they do for on road accidents.
Guess I will just stay dry during the day out there, and save the fun for when we tie up for the night.

It's not as bad as we make it sound but it is a chance... I got pulled over once in 8 years.... A buddy does 6 times a summer so its all luck... I think if there's a reason they will mess with ya if not then its not bad just be cool and things are usually fine...don't be scared just be smart...
Are you guys trying to scare me away? Haha

Its worth the hassle for us. We enjoy PIB and we drink on the island and when the boat is tied up. I'll play there games, even if it is annoying. It's like they don't even want on the lake. They have know idea what the islands bring in economically to this state. I can't wait til the ohio boaters freedom act passes so I can smile and wave to them when I'm doing nothing wrong instead of fearing of getting stopped because I looked at them the wrong way.
If you haven't been then def come, you won't regret it both islands are a blast.

As "full force" said above you will love it! I could list many reasons why but until you do, I bet you will agree. Good luck and be safe. Don't let FF keep u up to late at Kelleys!
