Saw this cat with JAWS written on the side up at PIB last week. Saw it as I was on a golf cart in down, heard it first then saw it. The picture was at a private dock, wish it was at the public ones so I could get a better look. Came in hot too. Who's ever it is sure is sweet, nice boat!!!!

ItsPeanut 05-24-2013 09:09 AM

44 or 38. My buddys dad thought it was a 38. He is racked at venetian.

BraceYourself 05-24-2013 09:23 AM

It was on a Crews Nest dock. Talking with him last summer he mentioned a possible engine swap to the new mercs. Who knows but that would be sweet.

paul235 05-24-2013 09:07 PM

I'm not sure. I was told by the rack driver the LOA was around 44' . Looks pretty damn big for a 38 but could be Im not a expert on cats.

A 38 ish Skater rolled into Casino yesterday, turned around and left back towards Sandusky, guessing that's the boat, it was not a 44 that's for sure..

Anyone know what caused it to go down? mechanical maybe

bigfarmer 05-27-2013 09:48 PM

saw a few pictures of the back end of the boat..... looks like one of the trim switches (solenoids) might have got stuck in the up position, and the other stayed down... broke the tiebar....and the rest would have been history...

After seeing and hearing about tow company horror stories you have to give to that crew. Hope the passengers on the boat are ok. The skater is a 38. The owner is well known from what JBonz told me.

This was under the youtube video. Answered all my questions.

This boat capsized and sunk near Kelleys Island in Lake Erie this afternoon. Crews from Rescue Marine, Lake Erie Towing, New Wave SCUBA, and Shrock's Marina worked together through the evening to right, refloat, and safely hoist the vessel from the water.
Once all of the passengers were safe and accounted for the salvage plan was outlined. There was no pollution so the SCUBA diver strategically attached an air lift bag to roll and refloat the vessel. While in-tow the other vessels on-scene monitored the vessel's stability. Once the situation was safe, personnel and salvage dewatering pumps were transferred to the vessel.
