One Night On Lake St Claire...
I was thinking of stopping at a casino in Detroit after Boyne Thunder before we head over to Lake Erie for PIB's Xmas in July and LEOPA's run out of Middle Bass when it just hit me that maybe I should dip it in lake St Claire for the night instead. I'm clueless about the lake, I'm going to try and make it to Miller Marina to check out a Donzi 38ZX that's for sale so that's why it dawned on me to just stay on the water, and if we still want to hit a casino we can just un hook the trailer vs towing the whole boat through the city streets of Detroit :party-smiley-004:
So where is a good/fun place to dock and launch the boat. We will be getting there Monday early evening and staying for at least 1 night. Any help would be appreciated. Matt |
Stay right there at Miller...especially since your going to be there looking at a boat. Close to a couple of good restaurants, good launch and GREAT people to deal with. Chip and Ann are among the best IMO.

Call Chip at Miller. He might even let Ya dip in there. Brownies or Tin Fish (the old Beach Grill) are good stops. Harley Ensign ( S. River rd. Launch is the biggest/nicest public ramp). Lk st Clair metro park has nice docks and facility but no store. Mac & Rays is nice. Algonac Harbor club and Brownies are a must but if you don't know how to get there you will never find them. You could run the boat down to Det and take a shuttle to the casino. The marinas down there are safe and nice.
The lake is safe and open. Have someone show you on a chart where sand island is and if you hit the channels stay in the markers. |
----I believe Tin Fish is still closed, and thats a shame. On the plus side, Browns on Harsens has been heavily renovated and is now very coolin IMHO........Bill S

Ok, just ran the idea by the gf and she made a valid point, 10 nights on the boat might be to much. So might be looking for a hotel in the area now, something reasonable in price, truck and trailer friendly, close to LSC and a casino. Any ideas?

There are a bunch of hotels on Gratiot. Not sure what names but the bass guys stay there for tournaments.

Who's 38 Donzi are you looking at at Miller??
|
Now we are considering Windsor for a night or two. How difficult is it to pull a boat across the boarder or am I better off seeing if Millers will hold it.
