Well guys looks like spring may finally be here. Saturday looks to be in the 70s here in the Detroit Metro area. I think that sounds warm enough to uncover and get the new Concept wet. Unfortunately the Detroit River is littered with thousands of fishing boats this time of year..... But, hopefully I will have a good first run in the new (to me ) Concept tomorrow.

Except my live well will be full of ice and beer. I have no desire to fish.

I always take at least one ride real early in the season and it pisses off all the fisherman when I come through with the open exhaust. THis year, with egg beaters, I guess they won't be as pissed. But I am sure the ones drifting in the shipping lane will still be upset with me (as I slalom in and out of them).

Was at the DYC last night and the river looked inviting. Have a great ride, I'll wait another 3-4 weeks in hopes to miss the trees, docks, etc.

Didn't make it out today. I had to put impellers in both lowers (maintenance). After bolting up both lowers, a ended up modifying the anchor locker to acomidate my new Fortress FX11 anchor. Pervious owner had an FX7 up there. That seemed too small for this size of a boat, so after a bit of cutting and sanding, (now itching both arms like mad), I got the anchor to fit. If weather holds off tomorrow I will try and get out.

That was our first trip, on one motor...... I put new impellers in yesterday and when putting the lower units back on, I had a brain fart and didn't line up the shifter on the starboard motor. Since this is my first boat with outboards and my first time out on this boat, I didn't realize only one motor was in gear until I got out a bit and got it on plane and it didn't feel right. I then realized we were on one motor........ I figured since we were out and I was starving, we would continue to head to Sharkeys for lunch. It was able to get up on plane with one motor (which is good to know incase we ever need to limp back). After lunch we headed back to the launch, took the boat home, Dropped the lower and fixed the shifter. Then headed back to the launch. Basically it took me all of about 20min to get it back in the water. That's when I realized what kind of boat it really is. Man am I impressed with the acceleration the Optimax outboards have. That thing down right gets up and goes. With all the wind we had today, I was very impressed with the way the boat handled. She needs a lot of cosmetic work to be up to my standard, but this will be a great boat for this area. Got a lot of compliments (even though it's filthy) at the ramp, and at Sharkeys.
