Looking for good waterfront restaurants and bars in Charlevoix and any other advice
#1
I trailering the 242 up to Charlevoix this weekend and want to know some good waterfront restaurants and bars to go to. I'm only going up for Friday and Sat and coming back on Sunday. The GF and I are staying in a bed and breakfast in Ellsworth too. Ive heard that the city marina is good place to launch. Where exactly is the city marina? I also heard about Irish's. Where is that at? Are there any underwater obstacles I need to be aware of?

Lots of great little places downtown. City marina is where you will tie up, and it's steps from the main drag. Irish is next to the ramp. Nothing to worry about obstruction wise. Be sure to boat over to the Landings Restaurant in Ironton. Great spot, and the owners are go fast guys
When you make it all the way down to Boyne, check out the Red Mesa or Cafe Sante, both very good. There's several OSOers up there, I'm sure you will see them on the water.
We will be up there starting the 2nd for two weeks. Can't wait!

Add another vote for The Landings. We just had lunch there today and it was great as always.
They have Crab Cakes new on the menu this year and they are delicious.
Hey mspdoc, how've you been? I couldn't stay retired so I'm back in the game again. What the heck is wrong with me?

Thanks for the tips RT. The weekend was pretty good. We got up to the bed and breakfast on Friday afternoon and got our packets for the race ( Me and the GF and her friends were running in a 5K race in Charlevoix ). Ate at the Weathervane on Friday evening. Did the 5K on Saturday morning and went back to the bed and breakfast. The owner of the B&B told us about the no wake zone between Holy Island and Ironton. We launched at Dutchmans bay and headed up to Ironton to go to Boyne City. Sure enough and the begining of the no wake was a DNR on a jet ski and the Coasties at the other end. We just waved as we went thru at idle speed. Went towards Boyne City and docked at the shopping docks. Ate at Cafe Sante. They had some good food there. Left and headed towards Charlevoix ( I wanted to get the boat on on Lake Michigan) 1/2 way there we ran into a rain storm. on the radar map it was small. I offered to turn around and run back to Boyne City to sit out the rain at the bar, buy my people wanted to continue on. Just as we got under the drawbridge in Charlevoix, the rain stopped. I ran out in to the lake but turned around because my people were wet and cold (I only have rain gear for myself). ran back to the launch ramp and called it a night. Overall a good weekend. I would do it again but want more time. Ill definitely be back and would love to take my 38' Scarab up for Boyne Thunder next year, but the cards were just not on the table for that this year. This is an area that you really cant do in just a weekend
Thanks to everybody for your suggestions.
