Oh and the Baja was doing Mach 2 and no one would have been able to take the wave without crashing. This article even brings Lotos Fountain spin out guy into the mix...

That's not a 25 Baja either. It appears to be a 29 Outlaw.

Acutally the individual that posted that was a fishing guy not a blow boater. He is pretty corectt , this operator of the Baja was clearly out of control

I cannot even begin to imagine the situation that Outlaw was in to have it launch up to a fly bridge and over! This story is god awful and yet another, proverbial, black eye to type of boating we all love at the cost of lives being lost.

I am not doubting his accuracy, just the fact that there are some well placed keywords painting a picture that all performance boats are uncontrollable "killers" operated by drunks. This guy was clearly over driving the situation and ruined his life, his immediate family, took the lives of two possibly 3 others and impacted their immediate families. Not to mention the emotional nightmare the rest aboard each boat will now have to deal with.

On another note, looks like the Baja suffered some pretty heavy damage. Looks like a crack runs all the way up the hull about midship..

It is hard for me to believe the wakes were that big...to land on top of the fly bridge, that is huge. We left the moot about the same time this guy would have.

I was at moot yesterday. Watched superman tag a guys boat and put a nice scratch down the side of it. Then take off. It was my first time up there, it was enough fun that I'm skipping the raft off. My ears are still bleeding from all the techno music.

Sucks when stuff like this happens. It just means that they are going to crack down harder on performance boats. I hardly drink on mine. Not worth the hassle. I know I was out of the water a couple times off wake in mine. Like 4 footers or better.

very tragic and unnecessary. And yes, yet another black eye for the performance boat world. Shame

SuperTaz 08-04-2014 06:53 PM

Very Sad....Usually I wouldn't respond to this type of tragedy because that's what it really is a tragedy, but just this weekend I said to my wife who was holding our son how this lake we've boated on most of our life gets crazier every yr. The sad truth is that so many boaters (cruisers, go-fast alike) drive their boats like they do their cars. (Only without a single day of formal training, or self education to the actual rules of the water.) It's a big lake with lots of space to go fast when conditions permit. Unfortunately, in all my boating I can almost count on 1 hand how many cruisers will alter their course just 5 degrees to avoid close intersections....

We were in the 40 Trojan right next to the music. I didn't care for the drunk fuks sinking their cans and bottles or using our boat for a dumpster.
