Cedar pointe trip

Just wondering some details on going from lake st. clair, to cedar pointe. I will be coming from the nautical mile in scs and driving my boat, 400ss down there. Any idea on how long it will take me, cruising at about 35-38 mph? Also, anything I need to look out for when I get into Lake Erie? I have a solid gps and will be following the channel/ deep water as far as I can. How about anything around the islands, ie. put-in-bay, kelley's island, etc that I need to look out for?

It's a nice run. From metro beach at that speed I made it to PIB in about an hour and 45 minutes. Add a half hour to go onto CP. All good water. If you have a good GPS -- no problem. My garmin "guide to" feature wants me to go the amersburg channel. I prefer the Livingston. Once you get to Detroit light stay 155 degrees and you're at PIB. Stay away from the island as you make the turn to head toward CP. It's been a few years, but as i remember; I just followed the shoreline (out aways) and looked for the roller coaster -- could see it miles before CP. There was a break wall that you cut in at, and the channel was well marked going into CP marina.

That's how I remember it

I agree w/Stevewy...use the downriver bound Livingston Channel, but crank up the engines...it's the "smooth groove"...the Detroit River "super highway/drag way"...you can't help, but to push the throttles...Have fun!!!

Please take a look at your charts as there are a couple of shoals around South Bass Island and Kelley's Island that you will want to avoid. Also familiarize yourself with the approach to Sandusky Bay/Cedar Point. Sandusky Bay has a well marked ship channel and you are well advised to stay in it - I've seen plenty of people being dragged off the sand, especially near Marblehead.
