North Channel trip / US and Canada Customs
Thinking about a run up through the North Channel this year. I searched threads but found nothing newer than 2011.
Anyone done this recently? I'm wondering about entry into Canada and return to US procedures. We have Michigan Enhanced driver licenses and are US Global Entry participants if it matters. And, of course, any tips about the North Channel, other than to miss hitting the rocks! |

It's a start. Take a dinghy for short day, provision trips. I think that two boats are best to cruise with, not only for safety, but for sharing chart reading responsibilities. Everything I've heard is that you see something new and learn of a new area every time you go. If you are launching in Canada, you just need i.d. at the border crossing on land, I am still unclear of how the water crossing procedure goes (although I think it is oft over-complicated). |
Good friend just spent 5 days up there. If you need some answers I can get you his number. He is not on this page. He came back to Lake Charlevoix and spent the day last Sunday with us. His wife didn't have that great of time. Said the bugs where nasty. Take some bug spray!

Snowhammer and BlueOval,
Thanks to both. And blue, I'll get with you when we get closer; sounds like your friend would be good for us to chat with. Cheers! |
