Great lakes used boat market 2016

Ok is it just me or does the Great Lakes used boat market just suck this year??? Last season there where all kinds of boats for sale and I never pulled the trigger on any....this year it seems that the selection is much slimmer than last years? Has anyone else noticed this?

By the way this is my first post so I apologize if this is in the wrong area on the forums. Ive been reading the forums for the last 3 yrs now and there's some great information on here!

No one is making "affordable " sport boats and the used market is drying up, IMO.

I'm talking more specifically about the 2015 season compared to this years season thus far. It seems that there were way more boats for sale last year. I know last year the great Lakes area had record breaking new boat sales so I'm wondering if that in turn killed this years used market? Also, I personally hate ski boats...not necessarily the boats themselves but how they're changing the market.

What type of used boatyard you talking about?

Power boats in the 23-29 foot range....specifically powerquest...but also donzi, baja, formula, sunsation, etc...just a very slim selection this year

there are many good used ones out there and still available, the issue is that people arent giving them away at el-cheapo prices anymore, they are now going for real values and a little over

the cheap ones are projects missing driveline parts

See my first post. Most of these are not being produced. People who want a go fast and can not afford a new MTI or Cigarette are buying up the used Fountains, Donzi and Velocitys..

There aren't any boats made for the working man anymore...shoot even new fishing boats go for 75k for a piece of aluminum with a 150hp merc on the back. And yes after 08 when everyone went out of business the industry shrank, but the ones that are still in business are mega bucks now

Exactly the case. Not much manufacturing in the entry level price range so average joe is buying up the used stuff that stopped being made 10 years ago. Less boats on the market and a greater demand for them. I browse craigslist in the area almost daily for ****s and giggles. You see the same boats for sale with the owners expecting $$$ or its a bunch of unmaintained junk. Maybe once a month I'll catch a boat that genuinely seems like a good deal.If you see something, you're going to have to jump on it right away.
