I think I have exhausted all the normal part store guys. I can only find smaller alternator in gaylord that I might see if it will bolt up. Off to get a rental to do some parts hunting...

Came up short on the 160 amp. I guess that it's a call to Browns ram in Petoskey tuesday am to see if they have or can get one. There is worse places to be "stuck" in.

We already have plans to try to vacation here with the boat next summer.

Can you believe that no dealers in the area had the correct alternator. The closest one was almost 4 hours away. I left it in the hands of Jeff at Brown Ram and he says he will do his best to get it wrapped up for me on wednesday. I can't say enough about all the great people, willing to do what they could, that I ran into along this adventure so far.

Great people in the michigan area.

I got the kids and wife home now and will do the 15 hr round trip tomorow to get everything back home.

And the best laugh from the trip is the quirky option on the rental, a volvo v60. It has a button on the center pod that quickly drops the rear headrest incase you left them up when you are backing up or need to see out the rear window better....or when your kids are fighting and you want them to stop arguing in the rear seat....

I didnt know what the button was at 1st until I hit it and both the kids screamed at me from the back seat as both rear headrests folded down and thumped them on the back of the heads.

My wife and I almost pissed our pants laughing. An alternator, rental, extra days, you can buy. A moment like that you cant.

I only did it a dozen times on the way home just to get my money's worth.

Oh...your getting off easy. GlassDAve has a customer bringing a vice boat from Canada. alternator took a crap in little town in northern Wisconsin... The little shop in town jacked him all up for a week and a half and it still may not be fixed.... Suddenly it needed a new fusebox, and it was overcharging and on and on and on.....

Classic!
I was going to make a snide remark about how often Cummins' owners brag about how reliable they are, and no one NEEDS to keep parts on the shelf.

BUT, your post made my wake the GF and both dogs laughing so hard!
