Looks like it's a solid 6' out there. Who is out?

We pulled away from mazuriks around 6:30 and I seriously was concerned about the trip. I knew getting of the dock would be a challenge for sure, but it was surprisingly easy it was the ride over that was insane. I had 2 other friends leaving east harbor so I figured if they turned around I would just follow them back and hang with them. We took large amounts of spray over the nose but never plugged it. It was the first time I actually had to use the zig zag method to get somewhere. I ran about 18mph for the first half and got airborne even at the slow speeds. Didn't have my gopro on I was more concerned with just getting across. Finally near the monument I was able to run around 30 then 40 when we turn SW towards the bay. Hitting big wave after big wave took a toll on me and I was a bit disoriented from water in the face and constantly staring at my gauges. It was a whole other issue trying to keep the boat happy as 18 mph is not yet on plain. Night was also setting in and i hated the idea of being out there in the dark.
Got in around 7 so only took about 30 mins. Broke a engine hatch mirror so I'll need some advice where to get a new one. All and all it was a experience and something I can handle again if I had to. We had a blast that night on the island and fun all day saturday. Lots of other boats came in so I was glad to see the water is subsiding. The 2 other boats out of east harbor made it but it took them a bit longer. One got lost and the other stayed out looking for him. Not the best time to get lost coming up to the bay. |
Sounds like my trip a couple weeks ago. First time I was ever really concerned about not making it.

I love that kinda water, seperates the men from the boys.... I wish I was out there that day... one nice thing is Cig built them without things like mirrors, microwaves, panels that break, so I have yet to trash the boat, my buddy destroyed his Baja's cabin in that water, literally panels falling apart... oops!!
