Default Michigan City Boat Races

I’m planning on attending the Michigan City Offshore Race this year. I’ll be in my 46 Black Thunder. Where is the best place to reserve a slip and stay? Where should I launch? What are some good spots to visit while I am there?

thanks in advance for any suggestions

53Steve. We live in Granger indiana and typically put our little boat in at New Buffalo. I don’t know for sure if the ramps can do your size of boat but I do know it is quiet and there are slip’s available and parking is easy. You may want to call the DNR and see what the say. I know Michigan City has. Bunch of slips but If you are looking for a little p&q that might be an issue. We have been to the practice and races a number of times. It is a blast. Good luck

It’s August 6th and 7th. We have gone every year. It’s a blast! Overall it’s a great venue. We should hook up for a beer or two if you decide to attend.

This sounds interesting. Can you give me a little more info or direct me who to talk to? I will be arriving August 3 or 4 and will most like launch in New Buffalo. I will need a slip with power for a 46 Black Thunder august 3 through 7.

I’m having a lot of problems trying to figure out how to take my boat to Michigan City for the Great Lakes Grand Prix. I called the Michigan Port Authority and was told they won’t take reservations until the end of July. Thinking that was kinda odd having to wait that long to make a reservation I called back. I was then told that Washington Park doesn’t have transient slips? Doesn’t make sense

i need to make reservations to keep my boat as close to Washington Park Marina as possible so I can attend the weeks activities. Staying in Chicago or Hammond is too far away. Any ideas? Any help is appreciated

Last year the marina was completely sold out with seasonal slip holders. Some friends were able to get slips last minute in Washington Park. Not sure what the status is this year/
