Just bought a Hallett 270T
I just bought a Hallett 270T. I am very pleased with it, the build quality and attention to detail is A++. I went to Avalon a couple of weeks ago and had a great trip, the boat has twin MerCruiser Scorpions (blue motors) and runs very well. We cruised at 2900 rpm and that gave us 45 mph. Launched at King Harbor with the hoist, so I didn't have to put the trailer in salt water.
Jerry Barron at Hallett boats was a real gentleman to do business with. |
Congrats! We have a customer with a Hallett 270, small blower motor in it runs 70s and rides great. Great boat!

I was told that it was a 75 mph boat by Jerry Barron. I really couldn't let it all out when in the ocean the other day (not smooth enough), but a couple of weeks before that on a local lake that has a 35 mph speed limit I did try one speed pass when no one was around and it saw 82 on the speedo, but that was running down wind in about a 1-2' chop with 25 mph wind in my back, and on a pitot type speedo (not sure how accurate that is). The boat handles very well, is similar to the 32 Spectra that I used to have (same designer). Not as dry as my old Fountain 35 was.

The one we did has a 454, with a small B&M blower...probably makes 500hp give or take...running a hydromotive prop(a bravo one would be better) it runs about 75. Teak floors are gorgeous, very nice boat

Depending on weather, gas and load you may be fine. You dont want to put a bigger set of wheels on it, then put 5 people and a tank of gas in her on a hot day and only run 4500. Enjoy the boat!!!

Always liked the 270. Almost bought a brand new one circa 1999 with the twin small blocks but ex-wife talked me out of it. Used to see quite a few of them at Havasu, almost all single engine though.
Super nice boat, don't see them out here on the East Coast. I was looking at them again when I bought the Fountain 29 we now have. Congrats and enjoy. Very nice ride. |
