I,m here in Europe ,at the other end of the world, just put a 800 hp blower engine in the HTM ,trying to get some speed ,after using a stock 496HO last year... busy now with braking in the engine ,and run only 4 psi boost now .

racinjason65 07-14-2012 11:46 AM

I have a SR24 with 1,050 Hp. I live in Huntington Beach and boat in Havasu.

dennis r 07-14-2012 09:08 PM

dennis r 07-19-2012 03:27 AM

BuddyLuV 07-20-2012 07:11 AM

XR with upgraded shafts 1.36 ratio and I have a couple Cutting Edge Propellers that I run depending on how the boat is set up.

Can you run pump gas? I would love to have a 306 with 725 Ilmors.

dennis r 09-03-2012 10:37 PM

I'll run 7-7.5 lbs of boost on pump gas and run 119 mph. But I do my boating in Arizona, where they are adding 10% ethanol on gas at the pump, I try and stay away from that and use 100 octane unleaded when I run 8-10 lbs of boost and 110 for 10-14 lbs. Both are available at the pump in Havasu.

I personally think the Ilmor's are overrated, they are light and make good power stock. But if you need to get parts for them they are very expensive and modifying them for more power is ridiculously expensive.

My guess is 68-72

cig20 11-09-2012 07:41 AM

what would be a reasonable price for say a 2000 or newer one with a 496

Personally I'd look for one with more power, the hull doesn't really start to work until 65 MPH. So I'd look for one that can cruise at 65 or above loaded with people and fuel.

With the 496HO it was not fast ,depending on running into the wind or not between 67-69 mph ,like Racingjason said ,the hull is still dragging, and not running free on its sponsons at those speeds ,mine start free up at 75 mph now

cig20 11-10-2012 09:02 AM

so are you saying if he want a cat but most of the time he is running 25 to 30 pulling kids on tube or sking that a cat is not the way to go

I can stay on plane at those speeds (25 mph) in smooth water, put thats slowing down after getting on plane. My boat rolls over onto plane and settles down atbout 40 mph. For putting around 25 -30 mph and a 65 mph top speed a HTM is probably not the best hull. If you want a small fast cat that goes 100 plus, it's worth considering.
