Re: Key West Races
Could one of you folks describe these 'aerators'? Where, specifically are they located and how do they work?
|
Re: Key West Races
Best i can decribe them is picture ...sortive like a tube like starts like 3 1/2 inches under the swim platform and it bolted onto the surface drive and it blows air into the prop to break it free.

Re: Key West Races
Its a technique we developed in the 70's to help aerate the propellers.
What it does is allow the spinning propeller to draw air through the tube (which is above the water line) and allow the propeller to slip. Purpose: To allow the turbo charged diesel engines to spool up and build boost which builds hp-tq and gets the boat on plane. |
Re: Key West Races
Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback! Lou

Re: Key West Races
That pretty much covers it!

Re: Key West Races
Is that the same reason they put them on the # 6's ??
I guess there would never be a reason you would need one on a Bravo boat???? Rob :drink: |
Re: Key West Races
Actually, on the Bravo you see people extending the cav plate over the propeller to aid them in getting on plane.
It cuts down on the amount of air the prop can get and gets it to hook up. |
