Help with boat identification...
Hi there,
I just picked up a bare hull which the previous owner says is a 25' hustler. It is a deep vee style hull...I'll try and post a couple pics tonight when I get home. Did hustler ever make a 25' deep vee? I haven't been able to find anything on the web. It appears to be set up for a single outboard. Thanks. |
I only know of the 26 Hustler. They built a smaller boat and that is a 21. They do make a 25 but it is a Talon Cat.

Here are a couple not-so-helpful pics.
I haven't actually laid a tape measure across it yet... http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...Hustler/H1.jpg http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...Hustler/H2.jpg Thanks for any help!! |
After looking around on the web specifically for Hustler 26's, this very well might be an older 26' hull...maybe late 80's?
So moving ahead just a whisker...I don't have any intentions of bringing this back into race boat trim. I'm hoping to turn this into a family / fishing boat....possibly powered with a Cummins 230hp Diesel running through either an axial jet drive or a stern drive. Would this hull be an idea candidate for such a "re-purpose"? Living in the Northeast, I really need the Deep Vee hull characteristics, and frankly I'd really prefer a small cuddy cabin layout both for the protection it provides and the bathroom accomodations it would allow. I learned a long time ago to not even bother with a boat which doesn't have a decent head...the ladies don't like that one bit. I know this forum is all about go-fast offshore racing so these suggestions above might rub some the wrong way. I'm mostly concerned with starting off this project with a well built and seaworthy hull that is stable both in a sea, and when going slow fishing offshore. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |
Looking at strakes on bottom, it doesn't look like a 26' Hustler. The lower two strakes should extend almost to the bow, even if it was from mid-late 80's.
Does it have any type of HIN. |
I'll need to look...I wasn't able to see anything at first glance. I'm the third person in the last 10 years to take over the "project" and it has really been gone over by somebody with a grinder (on the inside...not the outside). I guess at the end of the day it doesn't really matter what it is exactly, but it sure would be nice to know.
I'll look for some numbers tonight. Anywhere in particular where a Hustler number might be hiding? |
I would check on the outside of the hull on the upper transom.
Is there a deck to the boat somewhere & inner liner? |
