Anthony, the Arneson drive 32's were mainly during the 80's. Yes, they were faster. Most of them came with the 1600 series drives, and required a counter rotating engine.

As far as i know, they didnt change anything on the hulls, between a bravo and a arneson boat. The 32's were vacuum bagged going back all the way into the 80's. They were light, and strong.

The arneson boats would get around the century mark with about 625HP per side. They were freakishly fast. 500HP per side got them upper 80's I believe. A bravo equipped 32 should run low 80's with 500HP per side.

I always heard they were rock solid and a very capable rough water hull. They were pretty much a custom built boat, not a production type. So I would say their build quality would be superior to most production boats. cant think of any straight bottom non stepped 32ft boats that would run with it.

The Arneson 32's were 80's era boats, and like most boats from thay era you'll find cabins with a lot of wood, carpeted cabin walls, basic cockpits with nothing special in terms of instruments, throttles, or upholstery. But, a fast, well built hull. Also most had a short winshield.

When you move into the mid 90's and toward the end of the production run, that where you will find boats that have the contempary cabin. Basically, the same cabin that's used today in the 344 Cheetah. Also, instruments are Gaffrig, Kiekhoffer throttles, and many of the later years have the McLeod interior with power bolsters. The 90's boats are all with a cowl arrangement and Bravo's.

As far as what's better, may be matter of personal preference. If you are looking for strictly a speed machine find a 80's with Arneson's . If you are looking for a more contemporary boat with more modern layout and features, find a 90's.
