39 Hustler .....Ilmor boat
 

I had the chance to take the ilmor boat for a ride while in Miami. Joe has done a great job with this boat. I rode amazing even at 100+. We idled out thru a now wake zone and the Ilmors run on 5 cylinders while your under 1000 RPM, interesting. Then the boat pops on plane. Im not sure how fast we were going but it was slow and still on plane. Both the 29 and the 39 come up on plane with almost no bow lift. Much different than my 37 OL. As Rolf pushed the sticks forward those Ilmors had really good accelleration. We were impressed. With 6 passengers on board we crossed the 100 mph mark in no time and the water was a bit snotty. The handling seemed great. I have to say both my wife and I were very happy with everthing about this boat. And I my self like the idea of no blowers. Thank you Joe!

I don't know much about ilmor. What's the advantage of dropping to 5 cyl @ idle?

I would think less fuel

and slower idle speed ....

Who owns that boat? I think I saw it in tow on 295N in Washington DC this morning. Strange place to see a boat like that...LOL!

Prob going back north to jersey

It is a factory owned demo boat, going back to the factory in NY

Less noise and emoissions

if theres a prob who can work on the motors?

Any competent marine mechanic.

I have been told that Ilomr is exceptional to work with in these regards. Inc warranty work. THis isnt first hand knowledege but call Ilmor and ask directly.

330hrs an ZERO problems! Wouldn't change a thing!!

so they will fly out and fix problems?

do you need a DDT for the Ilmor to work on it?

They have done that.

They once had a bad batch of valve springs.

They visited every account with them and changed them.
I think Ilmordude himself did the changing.

But never heard of a major problem with n ilmor.
There's is a 388 in martinique with over 400h on it. Nothing except changing oil and spark plugs.

And if something breaks - it's n engine, not the spaceshuttle.

I sold a lot of Hustlers with Ilmor and Arneson or Ilmor and Indy - great packages.
