Looking for A/C for a 388 Hustler
My boat originally came with A/C but the previous owner took the unit out and I never got it. Anybody know what size BTU unit these boats came with and who was the manufacturer?
Anybody not using theirs and wanna sell? Thanks |
i would be interested too.

I would think something in the 6000 to 8000 BTU rating would be fine , and you could probably use a Honda 2000 generator to run when not hooked up to shore power

does it have the thru hull fitting in front of the step for the water to circulate?
I have used the coleman hatch ac before, maybe 5000btu, it helped during the day and was cool at night. I know my buddy with a 25 searay w/ 7500btu, my coleman 1850 gen would not start it up, theres been a few threads on here about putting ac in boats, might search and find some info, Goodluck Rob |
I had a Formula 382 with a 7000 BTU Cruiseair unit and we regularly ran it off a Honda 2000. 7000 was enough when it was low 90's during the day and plenty for low 70's at night. A 388 would likely need to same size unit.

I took a 5000 btu window unit and stuck it in the doorway with cardboard surrounding it to block It was 90* outside and after about 15 mins, the temp inside the cabin dropped to 65*.

5k won't be enough. Need 7-9k. I'd prefer the higher end.
