Age of boat vs. Financing

DaveP or FNI, please chime in. How "old" of a boat can you typically get long term financing on (10-15yrs). Is there a real age limit on the boat where lending institutions will start shying away? I will be purchasing a Cig sometime this year but it could be as "old" as a 97 which would put it at 10 years old. Just wondering if I might encounter any difficulties financing. BTW, whatever I purchase it will be spotless with a current survey so I'm sure that will help. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

All of you guys on this forum have been very informative on the F & I. Helps us consumers be better prepared when we walk in asking for money!:D

Not in the financing business, but I financed a 92 python in 2005 with key bank (5 year). So I don't think you would have any problem.

I don't think you'll have a problem. I financed thru Key Bank and my boat is an '82.

You will have no problem at all with a 97. While some lenders start to drop out at 10 or 15 years, there are plenty who would not have a problem with a 97 model year.

For my next boat I want to go with an older cig, late 70's early 80's.

Are there lenders that'll still do a 12 or 15 year on one of those?

I got a 15 year loan on my '91 through 5th 3rd 2 years ago.

I financed a 1991 boat though key for 10yrs. I don't think you will have any problems with a 97.

Thanks for the info guys. DP, a couple of the boats I'm looking at have 500's and a couple have 600-700 blower motors. We'll just have to see what the banks have to say. I'm sure the insurance guys will love me too with the bigger hp. Oh well, gotta spend our money on something!:D

I'm having a problem getting banks to carry a note on a '99 Cig right now. Something about Cigarette Racing Team scaring them off. Figured that would just be with the insurance companies. :(
