Does anyone just self insure or not at all???
I HATE insurance companies....even on my new cars I only carry PL/PD (plus comprehensive...deer are a reality in my area) I never even thought of buying insurance for my 27' Baja .

I have my boat financed so it is a must. Even if it wasn't financed I would still insure it. I have a lakehouse and I leave my boat in the water all weekend. Sometimes we get wicked storms that come up in the middle of the night. I sleep alot better at night knowing that if my boat gets stolen or the anchors get thrown at night or if it sinks; I got insurance.

We had someone who claimed that they broke their back on one of our boats. Turned out to be a preexisting condition. Of course that didn't come to light until we were deep into the discovery phase of the litigation. All the legal fees would have come out of our as_ if we hadn't had liability coverage on the boat.
