Flood insurance on a boat.
Dear boating collective,
Seems like a dumb question, but has any one ever had a boat insurance which required a "Flood Insurance" adder for the policy ? Seems crazy, I know, but some one I work with is looking a boat loan and ran into this as a requirement for thier boat loan. :D  Any thoughts? Uncle Ernie |

Uncle Ernie Wouldn't it make sense that if a flood came, the boat would float and thus do as intended. What kind of moron boat loan company is he using. |
Yup
Yeah, that was kind of my reaction too.........my boat IS my flood insurance :D

The boat won't float (and/or it will get beat up) if it's in a covered boat slip and the water rises high enough for the boat to get sandwiched between the water and the structure.
I usually try to remove the boat from the slip before a storm, but if I can't get it out for some reason, then it's at risk. |
