Flood insurance on a boat.
 

Dear boating collective,
Seems like a dumb question, but has any one ever had a boat insurance which required a "Flood Insurance" adder for the policy ?
Seems crazy, I know, but some one I work with is looking a boat loan and ran into this as a requirement for thier boat loan. :eek: :D :eek:

Any thoughts?

I wonder where you would get that policy. The standard flood policy from NFIP excludes all marine items and automotive items.

Wouldn't it make sense that if a flood came, the boat would float and thus do as intended. What kind of moron boat loan company is he using.

Yeah, that was kind of my reaction too.........my boat IS my flood insurance :D

The boat won't float (and/or it will get beat up) if it's in a covered boat slip and the water rises high enough for the boat to get sandwiched between the water and the structure.
I usually try to remove the boat from the slip before a storm, but if I can't get it out for some reason, then it's at risk.
