Insurance and Number 6's
I am hearing that a couple of places are not writing new policies on boats equiped with number six's. Is this true?
|
Maybe it is because of the power that is typically in fornt of them. ;)

Duh.....ya think?
|
What is the reason you are being told for them declining, if you know?.

Is it the power or drives? |
I haven't heard of this but it must be related to power (top speed). Markel, ACE & American Reliable are the only true High Performance carriers.
Also, American Modern may be considered High Performance because they do have a seperate program for boats (only V-hulls) up to 100 mph. Although, if it was my boat & it needed a #6, it better go over 100. |
Not taking 6's doesn't make much sense. That's like saying they won't take a boat with more than 30 pitch props. It's probably easier to stick with the age-old benchmarks of speed and horsepower.

Havent heard of that, had and 06 38 Fountain, with 600\s and Bravos, and an 07 38 Fountain with 700's and 6's. The insurance on the 07 was more only because of the difference in speed. One ran above 100, and the other below. But didnt have any issues related to the drive on the boat.

BB, who did you go through on the 07?
|
maybe the cost to replace the thing?
