Here ya go, you can get this free every 12 months, there are no "programs" that you have to obgligate to. I use this every year, good tool. I think it does cost a few $'s to get your score, but the report is free. Hope this helps...

It's probably a bit lower now since you haven't paid your bill at the 'Washy Washy' Massage Parlor.

Yep..that's the official place.

You can chose for any of the 3 bureaus or all 3. I get 1 from each annualy but stagger them to get one every 4 or so months. I use it to make sure everythings reported correct, don't usually get the scores.

It's not free but truecredit.com can get your scores, each of your reports, and you can do on-line disputes, if I remember correctly.

I've done freecreditreport.com. Its a free trial and you have to give them a CC #. Just cancel by the end of the free trial period or they will start charging you. They will give you your scores from each bureau.

FYI:

From the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) website:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/...eereports.shtm

Your Access to Free Credit Reports

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion – to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months. The FCRA promotes the accuracy and privacy of information in the files of the nation’s consumer reporting companies. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, enforces the FCRA with respect to consumer reporting companies.

A credit report includes information on where you live, how you pay your bills, and whether you’ve been sued, arrested, or filed for bankruptcy. Nationwide consumer reporting companies sell the information in your report to creditors, insurers, employers, and other businesses that use it to evaluate your applications for credit, insurance, employment, or renting a home.

Here are the details about your rights under the FCRA and the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions (FACT) Act, which established the free annual credit report program.

http://www.annualcreditreport.com/ is the one and only official free credit report site.

The others are imposters and/or private business entities making money by providing you credit reports which are otherwise free (once a year) from http://www.annualcreditreport.com/

There are way too many scams and crap out there.

I use Credit Secure from American Express. Its and EXCELLENT and secure service, with TONS of info and access to all three bureaus. Its $12/month well spent. They will email you anytime anything changes on any of your 3 reports, and they give you easy access through one portal on how to dispute/resolve issues.

Thank you! Just went to the site and got all three of my reports. I'm MUCH better off than I thought I was. Kinda sobering that my twenties were more than eight years ago, so all of my laziness has fallen off of the reports. BTW, this is really the only way to go. I checked into some of the "credit repair" outfits online and most of them have many complaints against them, some even made the credit files worse.

CigDaze 02-21-2008 06:59 AM

You got it. Glad I could help. Ya, beware of those repair places. They essentially make you do a mock bankruptcy and it can be just as bad for your credit.
