New Boat

I am considering the purchase of a used performance boat.
Looking at a 35 Nordic with twin 525s or
A 35 Fountain with twin 525s
Looking at a budget around $200,000.
Currently a Baja owner with no claims, had it one year, small children that are just now good swimmers, so out of boating for some time before that
What am I looking at for insurance costs?
My sales tax is 7.75%, does the coast guard thing go ok, I think I can register it with them for $2000-2500 vs tax of $15,500 (ouch)
Any suggestions on making a purchase like this painless?

Have your insurance rates/policy squared away and ready to go. Don't wait to the last minute to do it.

To give you an idea of rate range...

We just wrote a 2009 35' Nordic Flame with an agreed value of $225K twin Phaff 700's for $2890 a year. My guess is that if your experience/age/driving record checks out you will be in the lower end of the $2000's ($1900 - $2400)

That's best guess and subject to quote obviously. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks, thats in my budget and less than I thought. I am 39 (40 in 3 weeks -ouch) and should not have any insurance issues beyond never owning a performance boat before.
That is good to know and will not be at all a reason not to move forward with the purchase.

You should be ok. Only thing that may be of concern would be the jump from 24 to 35 ft boat. When you are ready, call me. I have a carrier that may look past that and it would be worth checking into further. Good luck and keep us posted on your purchase!
